Oculus with GTX 980 4GB?

My GTX 980 has served me very well over the last 1.5 years, and still gives a pretty solid accounting with most titles. I run X-Plane at near max settings, and rarely see fps drop below 40. One exception is around Rio with both payware SBGL and SBRJ loaded (medium and large airport with lots of animated objects). which brings low 20s to mid 30s.

I’m considered upgrading my display adapter to either a 1070 or 1080, but would like to get another 6 mos out of my 980. In the meantime the Oculus is burning a big whole in my pocket. Anyone have experience with a 4GB 980 and the Oculus?

I bought an Oculus Ready PC that has the 980. It does fine in DCS using the default VR settings. I tweak it up a little with High textures and over sample to 1.5. I’d hang on until the 1080 TI comes out if I was you. Go get your Rift, you won’t regret it.

Thank you for the feedback @PaulRix. That’s encouraging.

You can have a look at the titan x vs the titan x

Guess that I’ll be eating from the McDonald’s $1 menu for the next couple of weeks. Oculus inbound.
