Don’t want to spoil anything but I would STRONGLY recommend to wait with TEW till December. And I will say no more ![]()
So I will admit right here that I got a bit miffed that the Hornet became the flavor of the moment. Multiplayer wise of course. I like the Hornet and I always new that it was the “bigger deal” and it would steal the headlines and the discussion.
But it has also reminded me that I am with @jenrick, the Harrier is so much straight up fun. The simpler stuff you ask the Harrier to do, the more fun you have doing it.
How about all y’all fix that there ASL and DMT?
I want fixes too. I am not for a second letting Razbam off the hook.
Have you met that guy who has taken four tests out of five for his certification in whatever? You want to just say - “Dude, take the last test! You are in the “indefensible” zone!” “Dude one test in and you’re feeling it out, but one test to go is like - man I don’t want drink beer with you anymore that’s so stupid!”
Razbam is like that to me. The Harrier is soooo worth the time and so close.
Indefensible zone. Worse than the Zone of Truculence (if that’s possible)
Eh, the harrier is perfectly fine. I was annoyed with the INS but that’s apparently fixed.
At this point I don’t fly it because it’s primarily a CAS platform. I find It super hard to make a compelling CAS mission beyond TAKE AWAY THEIR METAL BAWKSES that isn’t horribly lopsided or seriously bloated, especially for a multiplayer context.
The Hornet we have with the tools it has lends itself better to strike missions, which are waaaaaay easier to make.
The other night it wasn’t spotting laser spots from the JTAC, and following vehicles in Point tracking was hit or miss as well. Doing some looking on the DCS board, it was stated both of those were bugged currently.
Why can’t harrier do a penetrating strike or BAI? It has enough power reserve to run a valley hard with a fair load of democracy and freedom. Delivery is almost as manly as the F-5E. I don’t see why you’d only fly CAS with it besides a failure of the imagination.
I think a two ship flight of harriers would rock at bustin up a farp 50ish miles behind the front line, including the air defences and a chopper or two that lifts off it.
No pun intended I’m sure. ![]()
Mostly the short legs. Gotta have your ducks in a row to get the right fuel management out of the Harrier. Plus tanker support if you wanna go in further. Such is possible though, as I tested a 800nmi trip with a four ship of Harriers and a lone KC-130, though we ran the KC-130 out of gas…
Point tracking seems to be highly specific, seems like you have to hit the dead approx center of a vehicle to get to it there. I micromanage my TGP, so I never saw it as a big issue.
ETA: AGM-65Es are bugged, game crashes when launching.
Alright, I think I can wait awhile longer. ![]()
…as will I. Bonus bucks only last one year though. ![]()
Am I the only one who always pictures William Shatner with a “grrr” face when I see the words Enemy Within?

“I WANNA LIVE!!!”
I’ve not spent nearly enough time with the Harrier yet to notice all these issues with it. I’m still in the “got the hang of flying it…wait 2 weeks to fly again…CRASH…dammit gotta train again” phase.
Well, I wasn’t… UNTIL YOU WROTE THIS POST!
