Any first impressions?

Its not working. The plane is transparent. I cant fly inside. Nothing worked for me. I gave up 5 pounds

Anyone had any luck?

Worked as announced for me, using a regular monitor. Is yours a 3D problem?

Only prob I noticed is that cannons fire ignore the master arm switch, but I have literally sat two minutes in the Bronco so far.

Flew around a bit, threw some Zuni rockets at a ZSU-23 emplacement, got zapped by it’s comrade. It’s a fun little ride. Great view, great sound. Getting it started was
Not as simple as it seemed

Same as schurem. Installed, got bindings set up and went for it. Engine start was easy once I figured out the RPM lever took them out of cutoff.
Flying is a dream and it has power. Rockets and guns are pretty accurate.
Looks at home on the Marianas map.
My only gripe is that they didnt include any USAF skins.

My first dl was corrupt. Second dl worked like a charm. It looks ok. I had about 10 minutes in it. More to follow.

Took her for a spin this evening. The only OV-10 time I have is in the FSX Bronco-X so I obviously can’t speak to the real world veracity of the model.

Graphically, the pit is a generation back. The texturing is flat, no real bump maps, that weird “military” font devs use in place of the realthing, etc. However since it’s free, definitely can’t complain. External model looks great, the modern pilot model is a bit jarring, but I’m sure they’ll do something period appropriate given time.

Flight wise, she’s a bit heavier on the controls than the Bronco-X, but is still reasonably maneuverable. Engine wise, I never even got close to cooking one, even with the throttle all the way to the firewall. So looks like engine systems modeling might be on the list of improvements.

Fighting the Bronco is classic “red sight” bombing. I find 170 mils is about perfect for rocket and guns, still trying to find good bomb dope.

Overall, the best correlation I can make is a clickable cockpit SF-2 Bronco. It’s probably a little deeper than that to be fair, but at the moment the systems modeling is a bit bare. Which is fine, this mod is about having CCR on speaker while you roll in hot on soft targets using iron sights. Hosing down a truck convoy with machine gun fire, or blanketing a tree line with rockets is a blast, and honestly can I ask for more? Can’t beat it for the price.

I am a huge Bronco fan and always I wanted one for DCS pretty badly. It’s a very nice mod and apparently a lot of effort has gone into it, but it is quite clearly a mod. Still a lot of fun.

It’s nice that the mod has an EFM, though it isn’t quite there yet in my opinion. The aircraft feels like it is lacking a little inertia, it is giving very little feedback and the slow speed handling/stalls feel off. But otherwise flying around works quite well.

The cockpit and sound quality also do not quite match a full module.

One of the first things I had to try was this

Anybody figured out the thrust reverse? I notice the button needs to be held, but when I advance throttle while holding thrust reverse it didn’t seem to apply any reverse power for braking.

I never knew Bob Hoover flew the OV-10. Makes sense though.

It works as advertised on my end, though it doesn’t really add a whole lot to slowing down compared to the brakes. By the time the engines rev up to full power in revers I have usually already stopped with the wheel brakes.

That little thing is so much fun

Hard to believe they were still used in first Gulf War.

For the Arma 3 Bronco I made a mission with plenty of SQF that would call in a heavy strike on targets marked with the WP from the Bronco. Anyone knows if that is possible with DCS lua as well? I guess calling in the strike can be taken from existing scripts, like AirGroundAttackScript found here, but how to check where the WP rounds hit? Been years since I tried DCS lua, so it might be a steep learning curve ahead.

Cheers,

Seems SLmod has a function for it, it calls

local str, err = net.dostring_in(‘server’, ‘slmod.add_to_track_weapons_for_byname(’
 slmod.oneLineSerialize(checks_tbl)
 ‘, false)’)

Given this is a server side mod and it specifically calls server as first argument of net.dostring_in, I guess SP mode is not supported. Anyone with some knowledge on dostring_in beyond DCS func dostring in - DCS World Wiki - Hoggitworld.com can chime in?
