Basically with that mod, and playing that same mission we did last week @smokinhole (the one with 20-30 AI jets and 7-8 players) its rock steady at 40fps on the Supercarrier, and 80fps flying around afterwords.
Actually the derailment happened to come in very handy yesterday.
Summary
So I’ve read these posts about DCS settings in VR. Interesting but I had never had slow performance.
Then yesterday I’m working on a mission where I want a couple of separate enemy BRMD-2 to continuously travel around a circuit of roads. (The idea being that, depending on how you fly, they will be in different places when you fly by and shoot at you.)
So a nice circuit with On Road set at the wa points and the last WP with a Change Waypoint command to the 1st WP. That don’t seem to work, so I put a Change Waypoint command at every WP to head it to the next; the last WP points to WP1. Seems reasonable / logical.
I’m flying (Mi-8) with the display settings I always use and all of a sudden I get low-single digit FPS. Reset and try again. Happens again but at a different place.
So I jump right back to this thread and other DCS specific threads and start reading it intently. I make some adjustments but…my settings seemed to be OK…looked like I need that shadder thing. (I also looked at various PC component performances but they all looked OK)
I decide to think about it and switched to seeing how the BRMD-2s were working. Started the sim, set where I could see the whole “track” of one and accelerated the time…then Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
It seems the commands were somehow overriding the On Road setting…after a couple of WP the vehicle started roaming around the country side, mostly in the general direction of the next WP, but doing circles and other zany moves until it hit a tree and “got stuck” …
…and my FPS suddenly went into the toilet.
No reason to beat yourself up bro. I don’t remember those alternative ASW modes being in the Oculus Tray Tool from just a few weeks back! Again, thanks for the heads up!
