P-47D-23-RA Firewall forward P&W R-2800-59

Anybody have drawings or blue prints of the oil tank, water injection tank or the accessories at the back of the engine?

Not sure if I’m in the right place for this.

Hey there and welcome to Mudspike! :mudspike:
You never know what kind of info people possess, in here… I hope someone can help out. But I am really curious as to why you need that info, if you don’t mind me asking.

I’m building a model of Aircorps Aviation’s restoration of a P-47D-23-RA named Bonnie. I am building it as it was displayed at Oshkosh in 2023. The build is for the Dakota Territories Air Museum and the owner. I am having to do some 3D printing and need some dimensions or drawings. I’ve tried other forums but no joy, so thought I’d try you guys. A bit off the wall, but the folks on this forum seem to be very knowledgeable and varied, so decided to take a shot here.

Howdy @F1Boomer, there is a chance someone here does. I am unfortunately not your guy. That will make an awesome model though!

Thanks for a response, I’ve scoured the internet, downloaded over 500 photos and manuals pages and have good pictures, but no line drawings or dimensions .
I also built the cobalt blue and yellow P-51C named Thunderbird for the museum and Thunderbird owner Warren Pietsch.

There’s a P-47 engine and turbocharging system on display at the March AFB Air museum.

It’s a spectacular museum if someone wants to make a little road trip.

Also, I think they have a flying P-47 that was being worked on at one of the two air museums in Chino.

I looked around as well and found plenty of pictures showing the mess of gadgets behind the engine but no drawings. I have a super-detailed -26RA model kit that I was hoping might have some useful information but sadly it doesn’t replicate that area of the aircraft.

Thanks for all the help. I have a ton of pictures but only a dimensioned drawing of the firewall. I have been talking to the Aircorps Aviation guys, they have some really detailed documentation, but I can’t seem to get ahold of it. If Bonnie is in the hangar at the museum with maintenance being conducted, Warren said he’d measure things for me. I have great pictures and diagrams of the hydraulic, electric and fuel line runs, so that part will just be tedious but doable. I have to have the model done by 1 May, but at my build rate so far it might be May of 2027.
