Poor guy. My two are starting get old and stiff, but take it with much more grace than I do.
Here’s too all all my fellow old farts, two and four footed.
Like this poor old bugger, hips are gone, he has to squat to pee, wife wants to put him down… then there’s the dog:
Juma aged 12
and the other elderly gentleman of the house:
Ty aged 19
Apologies for the poor quality photos but these are the most recent.
Bertil, sharing the first name with the former Swedish Prince Bertil, is quite the royalist and dressed formally for the coronation on TV.
Dog Save the King!
Smashing! Long live the dog!
And the king.
I admire their, very British, restraint!
LOL, this thing was once a thirty inch dog who I once watched swallow a 31 inch plank of salmon. Whole.
Who? Me?
Reminds me of when I once was at a friend’s grill party and had a steak. Had. Past tense because their dog was lightning fast, grabbing it from my plate while I turned some sausages on the grill.
She ran away only 10 meters and then swallowed it whole. She wasn’t even a large dog like @Scoop 's monster-GSD. She was medium sized at best.
Funny that, Scoop! Our old GSD was the same - incredible self-discipline once she had accepted me as the alpha boss.
Our current mutt would have probably managed to keep off them, but she would have kicked up a hell of a fuss about it.
Reminds me of the inevitable video…
Wow, that’s a tiny man Scoop!
5’8"
So you taught Zeus to babysit people? Good for you Scoop!
Had a rough weekend so far with one of my pups. 15 year old dog tried to jump up on our bed and broke her leg on the landing. She cried for maybe a minute then didn’t make another peep about it. She was holding the broken leg up and it was just dangling there. Because she wasn’t crying and seemed able to lay down comfortably we thought she had torn some ligaments and would re-evaluate in the morning. Ended up at the emergency vet (because of course this happens on a holiday weekend) pretty much all day yesterday, but the good news is they were able to re-set the break and get a cast on it and most likely she won’t need surgery. I feel pretty crappy about not taking her to the vet immediately, but she has never been one to make much noise so we didn’t realize how bad it was.
Poor pup! Hope she gets well soon!
ouch! ForSquirrels
I completely understand how you feel mate. My golden really hurt his leg, so much that he couldn’t put any weight on it or turn around. We took him to the vet much later than we should of for the same reason and when the vet was examining him, the stupid thing was just staring completely blank faced and without any indicators of pain or discomfort whatsoever. He was in agony obviously but just not wired to show it at all.
I felt so awful I had tears in my eyes.
Seriously, dont beat yourself up and hope pup gets well soon
Absolutely, animals are so stoic!
Ralphie hurt his leg last summer. And it’s been pills and shots and X-rays.
But the SOB won’t stop chasing rabbits!
All’s well that ends well.
You aren’t the first and won’t be the last that says about a pet “It can’t be too bad, they don’t seem to be in any pain”.
The number of times I have wished they could talk so they could let me know what was troubling them!
