Aaaaaw!! Congratulations Meg!!
Mini-doggos!!
Puppies yay. You can never have too much when it comes to puppies… just look at that roly-poly squirming bundle of joy
Congratulations to the new mother. Nothing cuter than a pile of pups!
A sad day at Harry’s farm. We already had the vet lined up for a visit to do the horse’s teeth, vaccinations etc… and also to get advice about our two old horses, because they had lost a lot of condition over the past few months.
Well since booking the vet and today they had both taken a turn for the worse and we made the call last week that the kindest thing would be euthanasia. The vet took a look at them today and agreed.
Farewell
Amy (Irish Sport who was stubborn enough to be a mule, but I loved her to bits and would have been 32 this year)
And Herbie (the sweetest Brumby you could possibly imagine - unknown age, but at least 35)
So sorry to hear. They were such beautiful horses.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Harry!
Magnificient animals…
RIP, Amy and Herbie!
Sorry for your loss, Harry.
So sorry to hear that Harry.
Thanks all.
Amy and Herbie had been with us for a bit over 12 years and were both adopted through a rescue organisation who had saved them from the knackers yard. We like to think that we gave them a good remaining life.
@Victork2 It was definitely Herbie’s time, poor thing was skin and bones. The vet did say we night get a few more months from Amy but doubted that she would make it through the winter, kinder this way and they are both ‘resting’ together.
I will plant a tree on the grave sometime in the week or so… Possibly an Oak.
Our remaining boy is a bit out of sorts, he and Herbie had a real bromance going, and spent a while with the body trying to get him to stand up until he realised…
Probably be a rough couple of weeks for him on his own, but we have a new paddock mate for him coming not this weekend but next.
I shed a few tears for you and your family Harry. Our cats and dogs and horses are part of our families, hard to see them pass.
Very sorry to hear that Harry… even when it’s time, it doesn’t make it any easier.
You’re a real mensch Harry, bless. And my sincere condolences.
That was very kind of you. I have heard that it’s important to let the surviving animal realize that a family member is gone.
It seems that closure is important to us all.
Our new pony arrived today. His name is raven… no prizes for guessing which one he is
By this stage he had been here less than an hour and had already settled in like he belonged.
Beautiful!
Is he named after the rare African Chestnut Colored Raven, by any chance?
…
Wow, that’s quite the view Harry. Love the topography, such a view. And um, no snow!!
Great to hear your new addition is settling in nicely.
Yet… It has been an unseasonably warm start to our Autumn/Fall, We have had snow at this time of year before.
Where that photo is taken from is pretty much exactly 1000m above sea level. I’d love to be able to say we own all of that to the horizon, but our property boundary is the treeline/ridge at the edge of the clearing you can see above the ‘round yard’.
Raven is a very chill horse for a four year old, super friendly and followed me around the paddock like a puppy when I checked on him this morning… The other one, Gundy (short for Gundagai) totally ignored me once he got some hay.
