I’d be worried too in her stead, that is more than unusual for a cat to be this unresponsive, almost looked like narcolepsy or another neurological problem. Our cat used to be like that when we had to start her on neuroleptics due to her having a series of seizure attacks. It was eerie, almost zombie-like. Thankfully she’s back to normal.
Wait that’s not normal? That’s just an average Tuesday for me when I sleep ![]()
We have now been joined by Maisie. An hour of madness and now …
They have settled after eating a few treats. She is now no longer PD Maisie but RPD Maisie
Congratulations. She’s gorgeous. How’s Zeus taking all this?
Totally in love. They ran around like mad things. Then Mark her handler left and she was bereft. Now they have settled down aided by lots of treats
Scoop, you do know they make dogs in smaller sizes - right? ![]()
Maisie is not overly large. Just average for a German Shepherd female. Zeus however is huge.
What cuties! Nothing more fun than watching two pups having the time of their lives together.![]()

Follow me, I’m going to Narnia.
My neighbour William Reeve, the ‘Lord of The Manor’ was working outside as the full pack walked past the back gates to his estate (3,000 acres of farmland, woods and lake). His family still own a big chunk of the village. He has a country fayre tomorrow we will no doubt explore in the morning. We had talked about RPD Maisie arriving and her work history as a prison dog. He had already met Zeus when on a visit to our house last week when I had cadged permission to walk his estate when it’s free of sheep. He insisted we explored his gardens then and there - all 5 acres. We are now allowed garden patrols morning and evening. The afternoons are out as the Lady of the Manor takes her four cats for a walk on leads. It is a little like Bertils Norwegian Narnia here. I think William likes big dogs and having Zeus and Maisie wandering around is great security for his rambling home. In its prime two centuries ago it would have had twenty servants in the house alone. He has had problems in the past with theft. Maisie scanned the grounds and stables/outbuildings for contrabrand/drugs just as she did on duty earning her ball as a reward. Sadly for her there were no villains to play her favourite game with, ‘chase and bite’. The grounds include the families dog graveyard that includes Bob who was a veteran of the Crimean war in the 19th century, accompanying General Reeve at both the Battle of the Alma and the siege of Sevastopol. Now war zones again. I will add photos tomorrow.
Sounds like you could become the ‘unofficial’ groundskeeper… Maisie sounds like she would excel at chasing off poachers. Zeus, well they’d just take one look at him and scarper.
Zeus hasnt been trained to bite. Not the wiseist thing to do with a PD however. Even a retired one with injured back legs. Maisie is trained to detain fleeing people if 1 -They run and 2 - She is released to chase. Stand still and she wont bite, just bark. 30kg at 20 knots hitting you with 42 pearly whites sinking into an arm would not be fun. She has done this twice bringing down armed violent men. Hence her injuries. I hope she bit hard. ![]()
They should have let her finish her meal!![]()
What a beautiful dog.
My old mate passed away a couple of weeks ago. But I didn’t want to overwhelm, or detract from, the grief we were all feeling.
He was born on September 19 and every birthday, I would say “Yarr, I be Cap’n Fluffybeard and ye can be me first mate Mr Ty. If that scurvy crew plays up give 'em a lick O the cat…” The bride would roll her eyes.
Mr Ty passed away peacefully in my wife’s arms. He would have been 22 years young this September.
RIP Mr Ty, you were such a huge part of our lives.
It is said time is the one thing we cannot protect our pets from
Sorry to hear about Mr Ty’s passing. Ya, huge part of your lives. That hurts
Especially like the suitcase pic. Those eyes are speaking!
He was not only around for 37% of my time on this earth, he taught puppies how to behave around cats, and kitteh’s how to behave around dogs.
He was one of a kind. If I had the gift of immortality, I would have gladly transferred it to him.
I am so sorry. Bless him.
