Interesting thought. I don’t think you can just replace those files like that. Ortho4xp (the program) can extract the data from the hd mesh files and bake into the Ortho files.

That is my understanding of how it works too. When you are building the Ortho files/tiles you need to point the program (Ortho4XP) to a source for the building/tree/road data. I usually just point mine at the default:

X-Plane 11 > Global Scenery > X-Plane Global Scenery > Earth nav data

If you are using HD mesh you would point it to:

X-Plane 11 > Custom Scenery > zzz_uhd_global_scenery4 > Earth nav data
