RAM upgrade - DCS 2.9 Germany edition

As the new map would require 32GB of RAM I am looking at options for my aging machine and maybe an upgrade is not so impossible…

Old parts means cheap parts.

This could even work.

I’ve used a 32GB (2x16GB sticks) kit of Team Group DDR4 and it worked fine in a H310 motherboard with a Core I7 8700, for what that’s worth.

I see- My limit is the MoBo (ASUS Z87-Plus Socket LGA 1150). I cannot have more than 8GB per stick, so I need 4x8.

Cheap enough, it seems.

Ah yes, sorry - I see that in the other thread.

I guess all it’s worth is “someone else used Team Group RAM and it seemed to be OK”

Give me a moment to check what I’ve got…

Unless I’m much mistaken and I can max out the motherboard with a 2x16 GB configuration.

The hard limit for the board is 32GB but I am not sure if that is adjustable… like 1x32 / 2x16.

Nevermind- I was right the hard limit for DDR3 is 8GB per slot.

I think I have got 4 sticks of Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 1866MHz 8GB, but I can’t check until I get home tomorrow.

Absolutely zero problem, I have literally no rush about this whatsoever.
If anything I will wait anyways until I paid off more of my debts. It’s all theoretical.

Whatever CPU you have won’t support DDR4 either. When memory controllers went onto the CPU die, it locked them into supporting whatever they were designed for and nothing else.
My CPU is one of the rare generations that crossed with both 4 and 5 support, a few from that time period did, but not really prior to 5’s intro.
