RAM Upgrade Thoughts

I’m considering upgrading from 32GB to 64GB of DDR4 3600 RAM. I have a Quest 3 and mostly fly DCS and IL-2. At about $150 for the chips, do y’all think it is worth it?

For what it’s worth, I mostly encounter the slowdowns in heavy Il-2 missions. DCS is pretty steady. OS and sims all installed on M.2 drives.

Current specs:
12700k
3080ti
32GB DDR4 3600 (4x8GB)

Well it could be worth it if you knew for sure the RAM is your issue… have you checked RAM usage when you get the slowdowns in IL-2?

I found 32GB of RAM to be fine for simple online missions (Through The Inferno, for example), but I upgraded mid last year due to the Burning Skies mission on Syria/Persian Gulf needing it.

What you’d be seeing in DCS if RAM is the problem is super long loading times for very complex missions, and lower than normal frame rates punctuated by frequent stutters in flight. (Based on my experience at least).

I don’t really fly it any more, but I can’t see why you’d get any improvement in the other sim from 64GB RAM.

So I don’t think RAM is your problem?

I don’t see heavy RAM usage in Il-2, not that I really pay attention as I don’t usually have slowdowns. I don’t recall seeing an improvement when I upgraded. I may not fly what are considered “heavy” missions for it, though.
I saw a definite improvement with 64GB in DCS with larger missions on bigger maps, so if you fly it often I would recommend for that alone.

I’ll check and see what the usage looks like during a normal DCS and Il-2 mission! I appreciate the feedback!
