Razbam and MicroProse Partnership?

This popped up in my YouTube feed and I’m posting it to see if anyone else heard anything or knows anything about it. If it is true then I have mixed feelings about it. I don’t want to feed into the rumor mill but I am interested in seeing how this will play out if it is real. Thoughts?

Interesting!

Razbam will have mouths to feed and bills to pay, so it certainly makes sense to diverge into other products. I’d rather the option to use the weapons over the same aircraft in msfs.

I saw a few Reddit posts suggesting it’s the team from BMS and it’s going to be a simcade game rather than a dcs competitor.

Saying that the amount of products with MicroProse’s name now attached I do wonder if they are going for quality over quantity… Think they brought out combat air patrol 2 (the early access harrier game) and announced they were going to use the engine for a WWII game, maybe they’ll use that as base for other eras as well?

I have seen it too. Some people suggested that the F-15E could be added to BMS, but since BMS is basically free RB couldn’t monetize it (at least directly). Perhaps we could see RB aircraft in Falcon 5, which already had confirmed having F-35 along with titular F-16. Or perhaps something other built on Outerra engine or CAP2? There is a countdown currently on RB Twitter/X going on (today was on 5?), I guess we’ll see someking of announcement in few days.

It’s good that Razbam is working on other projects, diversified income streams is much healthier for a business.

In that vein, I am going to look on the bright side and choose to think this will lessen the pressure on the Razbam/ED dispute, and allow them to come to a resolution. However rose coloured that outlook is

Edit: I’d probably buy the F-15E for MSFS if they did a good port for it like Heatblur did with the Tomcat… but that’s less likely if the DCS F-15E gets abandoned

I’d bet on a new product based on CAP2 - if Ed gets the campaign engine working how he promised it would you could drop the Strike Eagle in it with a new terrain (or, honestly, even the same terrain!) and BAM! New spiritual successor to F-15E Strike Eagle :+1:

Oh please no.

Sorry for bringing them negative waves but the Razbam moodiness is a liability.

Their best programmer left and there’s a lot more I wish I could tell but please God let MicroProse be left Razbam free.

Yeah, I’m not keen on this either.

Sad to say I have also not always had great experiences with RB, talented though they can be.

I remember Microprose announcing they were working on Falcon 5 about a year ago? Could this be a secret addition for that Sim??

I retried cap2 today…
It still has a lot of issues.
No ffb support, misses a lot of bindings.
I can’t understand how to use switches with the mouse… the flight control doesn’t convince me.
But it’s promising and I think that with the right investment it can became a good sim

I have a love-hate relationship with CAP2. I install it, it works for a time, I enjoy what I can out of it then it stops working. I try to get it up and running, quit in frustration after multiple troubleshooting attempts, and then uninstall it until the next major iteration. Rinse and repeat.

Same boat as I. RB has displayed unprofessionalism time and time again and if MicroProse thinks that they’ll gel with the BMS/Falcon crowd?

Well…

It’ll be wild, at least.

I prefer my dramas scripted and with good production values.

The way they handled this whole thing was extremely unprofessional. Not a good look. Shame about the DCS modules. The F-15E was looking to become a fantastic module, now I can’t fly it without becoming angry so it sits in the hangar for the time being.

Good thing the Heatblur F-4E is so damn good. Helps me not to think about the Strike Eagle too much

Still not sold on this new MP. They are incredibly adept at setting off my BS detector, I’ll give them that.

Yeah, they’ve promised a lot of nostalgia-bait while delivering… tiny combat arena? Was that new Microprose?

And ideally as something I can binge watch all at once and then be done with.

Falcon 5 is years away if ever. even if they license a prebuilt engine and hot plug mil-sim assets *( sounds vaguely TWSish).

Whatever RB’s endeavors, I wish the guys that made the F-15E sparkle and shine luck.

However, that purrty external model belongs to ED, so they’d either have to bring Tim’s old one out of mothballs or re-scan / re-build a new model.

As for Falcon, MP owns copyright and license to sell and collect revenue, they don’t own anything else, so whether or not they support BMS is besides the point, as they have no control over what’s done’ with the now and has been public domain source code, that was released from escrow a decade + ago.

They support BMS because BMS requires a F4 license, which the “New MP” gets when you buy that $5-10 package on Steam or GoG.

So they get some revenue stream from Falcon, vs Nil if they didn’t support them and attempt to shut them down.

It’ll be a test of whether they’re worth supporting vs just another company when/if they do release Falcon5 - the just another company would start hitting BMS with C&D letters at that point…
