RAZBAM AV-8B Harrier II

Flying at 20 ft and then popping up and nailing a target with a sidearm from about 900m is AWESOME in the Harrier. It’s by far my favourite module.

Update on M17: it is a DCS big, “sound to country” trigger stopped working. If I find time I will change all of them in the mission to something different but can’t promise - I have A LOT on my plate recently and want to finish the damn training first

Quite alright mate. I know you do, and I’d agree that some of the other things are more fun/higher priority than getting these voiceovers to sound. I mean, multiple modules ship with entirely silent training scenarios…

I managed to break the ship landing one as well, by probably not pulling the break turn tight enough. Perhaps a condition could be built into scenarios such as this where if the player did not enter the zone within a certain time, the scenario resets to a prior state, such as “get your butt back to the marshall stack, this shitshow is going nowhere. Let’s try again”

I will look into that! And as for the Mavericks one don’t get me wrong - I already reported it to ED and they should fix it. Even more so that it can affect some MP missions too!

I’m casually getting into this bird a bit. What’s the current status of the module, pretty good or are there major show-stoppers still? I haven’t noticed anything but I’ve only done very basic stuff so far.

AFAIK it’s pretty darn good as it is. Some very vocal people still have their pet bugs out there and do moan about it on some social media…

I need to spend more time with this one. I love the SEAD option and the night flying aids

It has some nagging issues, and still a few missing features. Issues that I notice are the looping pull up cues that will give you a “bip” sound every few seconds like it’s starting to tell you to pull up when there’s no need. Not major but there for sure. The GCWS is a relatively newly added feature so maybe it will be addressed. The DMT/TPOD slew still had weird behavior when used on a true axis. It will move the crosshairs around, but won’t give you a point lock and target info unless you use an analog button (sometimes, it’s very strange). I’m sure there are more, but Nothing I’m aware of that is show stopping.

Features that are missing AFAIK are JDAMs, hotspot detector, slew DMT to sidewinder seeker. Again there may be others but that’s just what I know.

It has received some love recently to the CCIP/CCRP logic and symbology which is nice. The AUTO mode was totally wrong and broken for several months but it seems to be correct now.

Highly recommend module even with its current issues. The operations off the Tarawa are great.

They dropped another open Beta today and Harrier got much love. It’s been steady improvements over the past few months. I would think it’s a great time to jump into this bird.

Yes. Yes it is. This bird is gobs of fun. Like a tiny, very fast baby hog that can pull some really neat tricks on take-off and landing.

Good analogy! I’ll extend that:

Baby Hog off to school. You can give it a decent sized backpack and it’ll jump off the couch and bounce off the walls, but don’t expect it to take a fully loaded day pack on a hike up a mountain!

I mean, it could, but it was pretty unrealistic hence the update nixing that.

I’m enjoying learning it!

Also it’s all relative - after getting used to the Huey’s and the C101’s punching abilities, the Harrier feels like quite a machine!

300 rounds of 23mm ammo? Whoa…what am I supposed to do with all that? And a clever gunsight? :open_mouth:

And you’re saying I can have rocket pods under the wings and yet still go faster than 200kts in a climb despite the drag?? (try that in a C-101)

Smart weapons? What does that even mean? :joy: I have expendable countermeasures, really??

I feel like someone has plonked me into the future with all these fancy screens and stuff, it’s crazy business.

Also - excuse my repeated posts but have you tried gradually moving the nozzles to vertical while strafing a convoy?

Very similar effect to rising collective in the Huey while strafing- you get more nose down time on the target before having to pull up. Awesome.

Do you know if the bug is present with auto-align turned on when starting cold and dark?

The way Razbam have worded that note suggests it’s a problem across the board.

I just tried it with that setting in single and didn’t have any problems.

Good to know - thanks.

There’s a hotfix out for the latest OB update with several fixes from Razbam:

Folks, on today’s DCS hotfix the following bug fixes have been released:

  1. INS stuck on invalid steerpoint on alignment bug.
  2. EHSD data not clearing after undesignating a target.

The following bugs are fixed on development and will be available on next update:

  1. CTD when entering a new waypoint.
  2. Range to waypoint reading 0 on the EHSD.
  3. SEQ waypoint numbering.

At this time, to avoid the CTD when entering a new waypoint, enter a high waypoint number. DO NOT enter the next available number.

For example: If the flightplan has 4 waypoints and you want to enter the fifth. DO NOT input 5 on the waypoint number. Enter 6 or higher. The UFC will correct the number back to 5. If you enter 5, DCS will CTD.
