Ready or Not on early access vis Steam and looking good

Thou it sucks that ReadyOrNot took away the simple map with all the missions unlocked to play as you want. IF you want to recon the maps/missions yourself you can start a co-op game with friends but then play alone. All are then unlocked and available.

And for the whiners, elsewhere not here, that claim there’s no school active shooter mission this is it, but it’s not like a typical active shooter that most LEO’s deal with… usually one shooter, and priority is to find and eliminate, NOT rescue the down already, like it is in this mission.

They still need to work on the clipping/rag doll stuff. All too often I’m pushing someone’s head through a wall as I arrest them.
Then when you shoot them and they lie limp, when you go to restrain them they will suddenly flop like a fish on a pier and sometimes move several feet which is just ludicrous to see.

That said, it was far more survivable against the AI now, I find them believable and the only reason I’ve been getting bad scores has been hostage deaths, either due to a perp executing them or a stray bullet.

Tutorial seems to have a slew of bugs, and I’m getting a large amount of stuttering. Not sure what they changed on the weapon mechanics, but not a fan of them at the moment. Overall seems like a bit of a step back in a lot of areas, but I will say the AI improvement by your teams are noticeable and seem solid. Probably needs some more time to bake, we shall see.

Yeah. I think the team AI we have now is the best I’ve ever seen in a SWAT-style shooter. But I have been going slow and trying to “do it right”…

The best part is they don’t block doorways anywhere near as much as they used to

For the stutter, go into your C:Users/your username/Appdata/Local/ and find Ready or Not in there.

Delete everything in the saved folder. It’s kind of like DCS and having to clear out your fxo folder.

Are you running it in dx11 or 12? I had a similar issue until I selected the dx11 runtime.

Hmm, I think I’m on 12. I’ll try both of those and see if that cleans I up any.

So, as it turns out, the AI has a stupid fast reaction time at the present. While I was loving the challenge, we’re talking about a reaction time of ~100ms.

The average human reaction time is about 200ms. While, sure I’m some kind of weird superhuman and didn’t find this all that much of an issue, it clearly needs to be toned down in the name of realism. It’s actually too fast even for the game’s animations. Here, my buddy gets capped by a perp with a TEC-9. The reaction was so fast that the animations didn’t have time to catch up so he’s bullet bending ala Wanted.

The solution? Try this: No crack for AI - Just say NO at Ready or Not Nexus - Mods and community
Drop it into ReadyOrNot>Content>Paks and you’re good to go. Still, enjoying this a lot. A whole lot. With a more human reaction time, I’ve taken a real shine to the SA-58 OSW.

UPDATE: Just got a hotfix that addresses some AI things. Install the hotfix before using the AI mod.

I justed picked up Ready or Not on the Steam Winter sale.

Been playing a few sessions. Seems cool. Still don’t know what’s going on and what to do.

Have a walk around the precinct in between every mission. When it opens, check out the evidence room. Listen to the briefings (hold tab after selecting mission but before readying up).

It’s a really competent SWAT3/4 style shooter. But it’s also one of the best examples of environmental storytelling I’ve come across.

What’s going on is you are a LEO with no ability to move faster than a 90 year old.

You are facing extremely angry, irrational, and suicidal targets of all types (druggies, thugs, PMC/bodyguards, organized crime) who all behave kinda the same way.

What you are doing is playing SWAT 4 while getting shot by them repeatedly as they sprint around you playing Quake 3. They shoot while moving with better accuracy than you have standing still.

They will refuse to drop their gun, you cant shoot them or get unauthorized use of force despite the gun being a clear and present threat, and while you’re trying to scare them into surrendering, one of their buddies comes up on your side or rear and hits you directly in the head with a single shot with an Uzi at a range of 20 yards.

Absolutely no frustration whatsoever!
