ROADCRAFT- New game from Spintires / Mudrunner studio

New gameplay by IGN, in a different map or opened region So…gameplay from a new area. I want to play this game so badly. 5/20 can’t come soon enough.

C’mon, really? No hype for this game? Releasing May 20th!

I pre-ordered from Greenmangaming. I got the rebuild edition for almost the same price as the base version on Steam.

I can’t wait for the 20th!

the cranes are shall we say “interesting” to use … not exactly a friendly control system, but usable :grinning:

So, is it worth picking up? I enjoyed Snow Runner. Expeditions was ok, but it didn’t grab me enough to keep playing it. Where does Roadcraft fit into the mix?

Good fun so far! I like the fact that when you set up a infrastructure route, you can see the vehicles driving the route and the route requires maintenance. For example if you are having the AI drive through water at some point it will become unpassable and you will have to modify the route.

Not sure if the blue truck stands a chance with me though…

@PaulRix Early impressions, at least for me are between mudrunner and snowrunner.

whoopsies.

I’ve played a little Snowrunner and Expedition on Gamepass. I didn’t really care for the hardcore mudding and damage, etc.

Some people criticize Roadcraft as being too “dumbed down”. However, this is exactly what I’m looking for in a case like this. If you get into bad areas, it’s going to be a bit difficult, but not crazy impossible to get out of them.

In Snowrunner, I found it irritating that I couldn’t fix the road and make the driving easier. This is literally that. I just finished playing 4 hrs and I didn’t even realize it.

I haven’t played enough to give it a full rating, but from what I’ve played, I’ve enjoyed.

There’s a tutorial at the beginning of the game, which gives a reasonable idea of what you’ll do in the game (scouting, putting supplies in vehicles, delivering building supplies to building locations, etc.) If you buy it on Steam, you can play for 2 hours to get a reasonable idea of what it’s like. If you don’t like it, you can refund.

I’m not sure you’ll be able to get to the road building part in 2 hours, unless you work quickly. You start that outside of the tutorial.

That is certainly encouraging. I have a Gamepass subscription, so maybe I should just wait until it becomes available there. Thanks for the first impressions @weaponz248 and @saghen !

It’s a good time for sure. Solo play is a more pedestrian experience, for sure, as you’re going to need to cart sand all over the place and then swap vehicles to perform the follow on actions. It’s doable, but will take much longer than playing in a group. Not necessarily a bad thing, but if you aren’t into the “grind” to complete a section of road that isn’t near the sand quarry, you’re going to get frustrated playing solo imo.

Looking forward to continuing, and especially group sessions. Invictus scout is great for those that got it!

How the hell do you lay sand without it unding up in mountain like heaps … and without a bulldozer to level it

EDIT… just found i had the dozer … that makes life a lot easier

also MP sounds fun

I went ahead and bought it… fun so far. Somehow I managed to drop a piece of the sea wall into the water and now I can’t re-attach it.

Dumping the sand is my biggest issue right now. It’s like nothing nothing nothing boom half the truck is emptied. Lol

Co-op is good, but sometimes the tasks available don’t allow everybody to be busy all the time. I guess that’s like real construction. :stuck_out_tongue:

you need multiple dump trucks for the sand … so you can keep the dozer working

It look me so long to do this small segment of road. Have a sense of accomplishment though. Looking forward to unlocking mobile quarry.

some nice roads there … that must have taken ages

Meanwhile… I was testing the load capacity of the truck

managed 7 of the concrete blocks … as you can imagine performance was a touch blunted
