RTT from ConTrollR

The glo-in-the-dark paint changed the properties of the mix, somewhat. It was harder to remove, than it usually is. I rubbed the surface so hard it got polished in the process

In the dark.

Before.

After.

Because I have mounted my throttle at an angle, there’s room for a bigger elevator trim wheel. Add to that the inspiration I got from binging the authentikit videos on youtube, I went ahead and did some CADding and printing. Yes, we have terrible easter weather over here…

Straight from the printer.

Old vs. New…

Aaand…here it is!

But… I must say, that the Authentikit trimwheel looks absolutely incredible! I will build that one and re-do the RTT.

Nice! Though I like the visual style of the old trimwheel quite a bit more, the new one feels more like a lid for some sort of container, I enjoy the beefy groove on the old one!

Honesty! A rare commodity, these days!
I agree. But for once I designed with ease of printing and minimal after print cleanup, in mind…

Haha yeah, your after print process is quite intensive, though with lovely results!

What are you going to put in there? I have been tempted to do somethign similar but I am waiting to see what VKB does for their throttle or if I get the Virpil one like you have.

I have ordered the VPC Control Panel no.2, that has a gear handle. The throttle already has a flap handle, so I’m ditching the Gear and Flap unit and move the propeller/mixture axes to the extension box, behind the throttle. I will mount the Control Panel more or less vertically in front of the throttle.

Where’s the beer cup holder?

On the other side… Maybe I should move it over…?

I want to order this as well but I am having an issue figuring out where to fit it into my setup.

Here is what I have now. Please excuse the terrible cable management but unless I put some sort of platform under the desk, there is no easy way to control that mess :-). Currently the monitor is re-positioned to the desk for coding and other games (you can see the monitor arm there).

I think that my only option would be to put it to the left of the Warthog throttle. In front, and it will conflict with both my little button box and the two Logitech/Saitek throttles.

Or, I could just put the money toward replacing the Saitek pedals, the Warthog throttle with the new VKB or Virpil one … not to mention the upcoming Virpil collective.

So… they need a new house?

Move your current gear/flap box to the right and make it a hook/wing fold, respectively.

I bought the Virpil Control Box 2 specifically to put on the right side as a hook lever (with a new 3D printed handle top, of course).

Not unlikely… But that unit would need it’s own controller as it is just an extension with shift registers, today. But I can probably fix that.

Or…
OR!
I could fix that, and in doing so even learn something!
Feel like taking it to PM?

(clarification : I meant no disrespect, I really want to learn how that stuff works…)

@Troll must have USB ports like my girl has shoes… When we are at the Mall and she says, “But I love these!” I simply ask “How many pairs of shoes do you own?” and then we move on.
@Troll, How many ports are you using on your PC?
On the Serious side. I really admire your engineering. Great stuff. Keep 'em coming bud.
