Awesome! That will work! Thanks!
This will sound unusual, but I’ve always used saliva on my CH gear. I’ve been doing that for almost 20 years, and it works, as long as the floor is clean. Just spit on the rubber feet, put it in place, and let it dry.
Most of our old gear is well-worn, is yours well-digested instead?
I do not have the room to stash away the solution that Wes and Troll have shown, or I would use that.
In stead I have done this:
First I have a layer of something like these non slip mats:
They are good at stopping things from sliding around. Like my joystick on the desk, my trackball, keeping loose paper sheets in place with rubberband strips on an angled desk and they are great for those really stubborn jar lids to!
I have used cheapo ones and they are sucking dust like sponges and get flat really fast, both making them lose their grip. I would recommend to use one of the versions that are better at keeping the shape.
Next layer is an office chair PVC mat covering the entire area where I move the chair. The one shown here is way to small for my use.
I found that to noisy and a bit uncomfortable when moving the chair around so I added the next layers:
More Non slip mats on top of the PVC mat and then a carpet. (I was lucky with the carpet, as I was considering what to get, when somebody threw out one that was perfect for my uses.)
My TM pedals stays in place on the carpet when I use them.
To get my chair to stay in place I use 5x rubber exhaust ring hangers that the wheels rests on. 1 under each of them. (At the time I was working for a spare parts wholesaler and we had a large number of ancient exhaust mount replacement kits with rubber rings in all sizes. I could piece together 3 sets of rings for a very good price.)
If I where to use the “Board with hole/s” solution I would spray glue a non slip mat, to the entire underside of the board or use doublesided carpet tape. That would make it easy to move it away.
My first choice would be the spray glue. The types I know are basically contact glue in a spraycan and they stop being sticky when cured. With the carpet tape I would be worried of it sticking to the floor when the mat flattens.
For the pedals I would try with a lose sheet of non slip mat or a piece of carpet, on the top side of the board to see if that is enough. Makes it easy to adjust for different people.
From the assumption that dust settles with gravity, I would glue the non slip mat to the bottom of the pedals.
I look forward to see your solution.
To follow up, my 2x4’s had a tendency to creep over the quarter round at the bottom of the baseboard, and the small rounding of the boards was enough that the TPR base could force it’s way under.
A couple rough cuts with the table saw fixed this issue but squaring the edges of the 2x4s and making a notch to pass over the quarter round. Now putting hard pressure on the pedals moves my chair backwards - despite the lack of casters. This will do!
How the dog’s hair gets down here I don’t know. He refuses to come downstairs, and I vacuumed when I put the TPR’s down.
I ordered some different ones as I’m in the UK (I always thought you were for some reason too, take that as a compliment or an insult lol) and they were too short and lowered my chairs height so found some locking wheels which work great Amazon.co.uk
Canada is a commonwealth nation - so close enough!
