Getted my PC and built the boy his box. With the gaudy lights turnes to orange it looks kinda stylish…
Sadly the AIO watercooler did not fit the new case, so it stays with me. The big air cooler barely fit, not a mm to spare. Getting the thing to post was remarkably hard, the GPU really got cantankerous about its fit to the PCI slot.

I still aven’t gotten the kids’ PC to run. For some reason the Boot Record on the system drive got fooked, and I went five rounds yesterday night to repair it, but to no avail. At about two o clock I had to throw in the towel.
So I’m now copying out the mods, config and some liveries from the DCS folder and about to nuke it from orbit.

Jeebus fook’n christ on a bicycle! So I took an USB key, and ran the windows media creation tool to make it a install thing. It boots, I got into a command prompt but it failed to repair the old installation.
So I copied out everything worth anything and told the thing to reinstall. It refused. Hardware not compatible! WTF! All the TPM bovine excrement is on and as it should be. That very version of your suck-arse OS ran on that same machine, all I did was change the case and CPU cooler! FFS! Irritating bastige computer.
Next up is hacking into the USB installer key to disable the bloody hardware checks.
I am now redoing the USB key, because the other (new) box will not boot off it…

Redone usb key did the trick. Old box is reinstalling.

One of my recent discoveries is ventoy.net. Prepare a big usb stick once, then all you got to do is copy iso files to it. It will boot them all.
Nice for install media and rescue distros.

Both boxes arennow purring along. Getting virgin installs up to speed is a job and a half. Such as the joy of sorting bindings for the HOTAS in DCS.

If you still have access to the old rig, find the old bindings here so you don’t have to redo all that.

Yup. It’s a bit of a job, but preferable to rebinding every single control in every module 
I have dragged that folder around for years, the oldest files in there are over ten years old!
