You’re not the hero we need Troll, you’re the hero we deserve.
Drop down caster wheels!
Back to the basement idea…
…and your point is? If I were you I’d go for it. After all, weren’t you the one that told me Norwegian wives were very forgiving? Or was it that they were very Viking…regardless…fire in the hole!
(Jeg hjelper ikke, er jeg?)
Really? Even with the house standing there?
Ok…!
No. Nor is google translate…
Well…yes,I used Google translate. I had my wife check that and she said it was OK…of course she left Norway when she was 9 yo so while she can speak fluently, she is not as good at reading/writing in Norwegian…and the fact that I was pestering her probably didn’t help.
BTW, Given your callsign/screen name, Have you seen the movie “Troll Hunter”? Hilarious, although I have to read the subtitles. My wife catches all the language and expression nuances.
It wasn’t wrong, as such. But you could tell from the syntax, that it was directly translated from english
Yes! Bloody hilarious! Really well made, despite its low budget look.
Yeah…I got that impression when she said something like “It’s close enough…can’t you see I’m doing work here.” When I first asked her how to say “I’m not helping, am I” she said it in Norwegian and it sounded much better. We have had similar discussions about words/phrases that don’t translate directly into english. “Thor with hammer” for example.
Married 22 years next month and all I can say is “thank you” (Tusen takk? ), eat and drink…and of corse Skål!…which, if you think about it, when visiting her relatives in Oslo, that’s all I need to know.
Being in Canada, with a basement, I can concur that it can help. However, just last month I moved my Ozone up to one of our spare bedrooms. It feels less cut-off from the rest of the house and in winter (which is probably for me, prime “flying” season) it just feels less “basementey”. I like it upstairs more - and I even have “air boss” approval (it was actually her idea).
Troll: Can’t wait to see what your V2 will look like.
I went the opposite … I had the upstairs spare bedroom years and years ago but I guess I hadn’t found out about good headphones at the time so I was using speakers and keeping everyone up with the explosions and gunfire and whatnot from the war games I was playing at the time. Not to mention my yelling and swearing LOL!
Now I’m the weird guy who spends all his time in the basement for which I’m seriously contemplating moving back upstairs. Winter or summer down here is great though. No complaints. Whoever finished this basement did a good job.
I’ve used headphones ever since the TrackClip Pro for my TrackIR. That came in handy when we had a condo too. Basement seemed natural when we bought this house and I’ve been doing that for nearly a decade but now I think I’ll like it better upstairs.
Sorry Troll. Kinda hijacked things.

Not at all! Thanks for keeping the thread alive, guys!
I have ordered the material. Hopefully it will arrive when I get home from our vacation…
Here’s how I see the solution of the sidewall linkage…
Awesome!
Genius… I read this thread to learn and hopefully have my own SimBox someday… for now the desk will have to do
I like this because this allows your “sidewalls” to keep their orientation regardless of folded in our out. I think you’ll be extremely happy with that outcome.
maybe this is some inspiration to everyone here:
Looks similar to Trolls pit
And…
if the wife does not approve, she will get this for you. She’ll call it “early planning”.
Got home from vacation today…
There was a large package waiting on my porch.
Even more is on approach…
This is going to be so much fun!
Always been fascinated by these beams. I never learned about them until after my Obutto. Had I, I think I may have gone that route.
This will be great.
