That I know, if you “simply” paint alu it WILL chip off at the slightest provocation.
What you truly need is “self-etching primer”.
Without that it’s (mostly) just a waste of time.

I was thinking of using a wheel rim spray paint. They also have a alu-primer…

I don’t know why, but for the locking mechanism I was picturing the green swing arm used to arm the Viggen ejection seat.

The scissor links are back!
This was the best solution all along.

Upgraded the attachment points with two axial bearings each.
The problem with the links were that they unscrewed the attachments, which came loose and slid down in the alu profile, making it hard to close the sides.
This is now fixed…I hope…!
