Nice! The keyboard arm might be in my future too. When the yoke eventually arrives, my keyboard will have to be moved. It’s one thing after another!
Congrats on your new pit! It might not be styled to look like it was ripped out of an airplane (like the NLR Boeing pits), but it’s a lot more adjustable and modular. You are going to love it!
Congrats! It’s a bit of a project to put together, but well worth the time spent. With regard to the Collective, I purchased the SimFab mounting option and I was able to push the throttle mount out far enough to make it all work. I will say that the throttle is now not as comfortable to use because it isn’t quite in the optimal position, but it isn’t bad, and I think some of the problem is the design of the VirPil throttle. Yours looks like the levers are more inboard which would help.
It was a bit of a project, Some of the instructions could have been better. The center mount retro fit for the AB9 was a bit hard until I read the screw packages and then once I realized how it worked I thought it was one of the best things I had seen.
Also after browsing the simfab page I have found a way to move the throttle out a little more and make a collective work, and to think I had almost talked myself out of the collective…
Sorry if I missed this but, do you feel a stick extension is necessary with this seat, ie; how much vertical adjustment in the center stick plate. Haven’t yet found this on the site. Still ‘browsing’
I think that depends on what base and grip you have. With my Moza AB9 and the tall VirPil T50 grip, I have (iirc) 100mm and 50mm extensions threaded together to give a 150mm total extension. With the SimFab AB9 mounting solution, you have no vertical adjustment, so extension tubes are your only option. For other bases, the center mount is different and there is some room for vertical adjustment but you probably will still want to get an extension.
Thanks. I have the WW F-16EX + base. Site claims that combo is ~12 inches. The AB9 + SimFab DCS setup would be nice (the gap in the seat for the center stick seems like a good idea too). But I need a new PC, maybe, before all that. And no, I’m not doing the math on the cost of it all
