We have moved everything under simhq.com to simhq.net effective immediately. Everything will continue to operate as it has been but will be under the simhq.net domain name. While we have redirects in place for all content under the simhq.com domain to simhq.net including the forums, articles, posts, etc, the main redirect for the root of simhq.com to simhq.net will only be active for a few days, please update your bookmarks as appropriate.
The reason for the move is that the simhq.com domain (not the content) has been sold to a friend who will be using it for racing simulations.
While it looks like the move was done successfully, there may be some references to simhq.com that will need to be updated. If anything comes up please reply to this thread and we will look into it.
It was important that even though the domain was sold and the new owner was not interested in the content, that I keep the community and it’s history alive, we appreicate your understanding and hope the move is as seamless as possible.
Thank you.
At this time your current username and password should allow you to enter the updated/altered site without any problems.
Since so many of us migrated from there I thought it was something that would want to be known.
It was, but @guod closed the forums for that site within two or three years and just used it for race announcements. Site traffic was never very high either.
Nowhere does RacerGT mention the friend by username or name that brought the SimHQ(dot)com domain so I have to believe that it is almost certainly not guod taking over the site domain again.
Pretty sure there was a nice AD revenue stream, because everytime I checked in over the last 8 or so years since making the decision to not post or interact there anymore, it’s been literally ADS everywhere, in Message bodies, forum directory, login screen, everywhere.
I honestly don’t even remember what my last post was, or if I even said anything about not posting anymore, and just abandoned the site cold turkey.
It’s a sad day IMO, was even a sad day when guod sold it. From that day on I was never able to sign back into the forums and was never able to get ahold of anyone to reset my password… figured I got banned or let go, so walked away… was a great few years of my gaming history working for SimHQ.
I do not think you are banned since your username is still showing in the membership list. Think you are fourth due to your post count.
If you want your SimHQ account back I can start the process. No guarantees but I just helped someone get their account back in the last two weeks who had been unable to access it since 2019.
