Simpit Nirvana?

They’re good visuals, but not much else.

Isn’t it a visual surround projection system…?

Hey thanks for bringing this up… I went to their website and nosed around and as a simulator technician I’m quite impressed. The solution they offer is very reasonably priced for the product they deliver.

Leaving technicalities aside apparently they can automate all the boring part of a projection system while maximizing the results. (if you pay a little more that is)

Personally I’m curious how things will go because the two branches of this simulation evolutionary tree (VR/AR vs Projection system) are quite mutually exclusive.

I like what I see.

Yeah, I found them years ago, back when I was a sim tech. I love that they use black screen technology and I would have killed for visuals that self align and calibrate, but I like a more tactile experience in my sim. I can see how this would appeal to certain folks, and I take nothing away from them, but for me personally it would be nothing more than an exterior visual.

Sorry, @Stormy801, but what am I missing here?
Isn’t that precisely what it is? Exterior visuals that you can use for a simpit…?

They market them as the cockpit. so you see interior views as opposed to exterior scenery only shots for the “out the window” only view.

In other words, real simulators only show sky and scenery and leave the cockpit physical. These guys make the cockpit projected. It’s similar to VR in that way. Does that make more sense?

Ah! Yes.
But these screens should work with a physical cockpit, or?

I mean- that’s exactly how all commercial flight simulators do it, so…

only in case desktop sim allows you to display out-of-cockpit-view without that cockpit interior . could be that all desktop sims are capable of this ? never tried myself . iirc AFS4 does this as one of the default views . not sure about the others .

Yes, indeed.
I was just thinking maybe the screen is designed to be so close to the viewer, that a physical pit would obstruct the projector beam and cast shadows…?

Yes, of course. But that’s a limitation of the simulator software, not this hardware visual system.

you mean this ’ simpit ’ !? not the perfect name , but its just the name of the company , not the product . can be misleading though .

regarding the nirvana . for someone the surround visuals can be nirvana , for someone VR , for someone the cockpit itself .

I meant pit as i cockpit. Using a physical cockpit with this visualization system.

Absolutely. Not debating that. Just wondering if there is something with this visualization system that precludes the use of a physical cockpit.

Looking at their website I think I found the answer when looking at the front page.

… where is that button ’ topic solved ’ !?
