For me. What makes or breaks a RPG is: does it have a compelling story/narrative, does it have NPC characters that I become ‘invested’ in and care about, is it challenging without being ‘tear your hair out rage quit impossible’?
Skald has that in spades and proves you don’t need a huge budget to make a great game. I’m not surprised it is receiving the accolades it deserves.
