I have to say, my dudes, this was some truly enlightening reading!
A question though, for you educated gentlemen… if I was to educate as well in the fine art of modern warfare strategy where would I have to look for to get some lessons ingrained in my brain?
The US Naval War College has a correspondence program…
Technically what you are asking about is termed “The Operational Art of War” - just like the computer games of many years ago. Outside of professional military education, I assume there are books on the subject.
Well I was going to suggest the Army War College or the USAF Air War College, but I see @Hangar200 beat me to those type suggestions lol. In all seriousness, most of the service colleges have reading lists and such that public record. Also most “tactical” and “strategic” manuals and guides are open source as well. I can’t really recommend any specifics without knowing if you have any general areas of interest?
Also military history is a great way to learn, so the more of that you read the more you hopefully wont make the same mistakes.
There is always this tome:
But best to start here…
…although at the War College we started with a comparison of Sun Tzu and Clausewitz…oh the fun we had…Zzzzzzz
EDIT: Does Thucydides still get royalties?
