This happened in Kansas today. Pretty amazing both pilots are still with us.
That is a stunning amount of energy absorbed in 30 feet! Not so sure about the skill involved but the hangar deserves a prize!
I think that if there had been skill involved, they would have landed on the runway adjacent to the hangar!
Whoever built that hangar is about to get every damn job in the county.
“This is Ghostrider one permission to do a fl… oh sh*t”
" The Kansas Highway Patrol said the Beech aircraft had been flying south when a mechanical malfunction caused the left engine of the bi-engine plane to become inoperable. Leslie Gordon, the 73-year-old pilot of the craft from Lee’s Summit, lost control of the plane as it turned to the left and crashed into the hangar."
Whoa- there’s a lot in there. Really glad there was no loss of life.
Very lucky, if the reporting is true…
Uh…oh…wow…
I can only assume on one engine it was in some staggering through the air…just on the cusp of Vmc roll and a ridiculous pitch angle and just sort of slammed belly first into the corner of the hangar at just the right angle to have the structure be the airbag and it was also just the right angle to have it slightly smear up onto the top of it. A couple feet lower and probably impales the whole cockpit…a couple feet higher and it skips over the top and probably crashes much harder on the other side…and we have a different story.
Wow.
Physics is a b….!
Today, physics was a blessing.
