Sonic Boom Over NJ?

A few hours ago my wife and I heard a somewhat loud bang outside that was odd enough to make us look at each other and say, “What the heck was that?” It sounded maybe like a large truck with a ramp lift and the lift dropped hard on the pavement. That was her theory. To me it sounded deeper and less local. But it was only enough to make us ponder for a second or two before moving on to other subjects. A couple of hours later, just now, I read this:

Loud boom reported in parts of NJ, NYC (msn.com)

Edit: 7/17, It was a meteor.

Happens every now and then here, next to the Gulf of Mexico - them flyboys get a lil fast in the Warning area(s) sometimes. Rare, but you can tell by how everything rattles for a brief moment; windows, walls, etc.
