Back when I bought my first PC circa 1990, my brother who had just completed an IT degree gave me this advice:

“There are two types of computer users. Those that back up their essential data… And those that wish they did”.

This is the gov version of:

„Hey, I dropped my phone and it does not start any more. Now all my Pictures of the last 3 years are gone. You‘re an IT expert, is there something you can do?“

„Well, I can deliver bad news with a smile… :grinning:

Double check your Restore capabilities! It‘s Backup AND Restore. With backup meaning you have offsite copies of each file AND its history. So you can go back to a state before it was fumbled with.

Yeah, I second the “restore test” recommendation: an untested backup is a really bad day just waiting to happen. Yeah, guess how I know…
