Oh yeah I do! The tracking is impressive too!
Like, so many things just feel perfect with this headset! Only issue is DCS which requires a specific paid software “Virtual Desktop” to run.
Nothing monstrous, let’s be real - just about 20EUR and apparently the result is great, despite requiring a bit of tinkering with options.
Last night I managed to try half an hour with Elite Dangerous and OMFG.
Again the tracking, smoothness, and freedom of movement left me speechless.
I could literally walk around the ships’ Cockpit.
The depth of the modeling is just unbelievable.
I looked into trying Reforger and other titles but I simply didn’t have enough time.
This evening I’ll try a few more.
Needless to say, I cannot wait my kids to try it!
At the risk of being cheeky, I feel like being in “Ready Player One”.
In fact you don’t need it. You can still use Pico Connect, either USB or WIFI. On the other hand, Virtual Desktop is amazing software and has many more features than Connect. You may try both and see which sticks.
I am not sure if you said earlier that you got Connect or the legacy Streaming Assistant working. The Connect should be the current one.
Yeah that was entirely of my issue…
I first installed PICO Connect on my PC without realizing that on my headset there’s Streaming Assistant.
I mean the instructions clearly said “Install Streaming Assistant on your PC with this Link”, but on the page linked there were three software.
SA was the oldest, as you mentioned too, so idiotically by default I got the newest Connect, and that’s why the two couldn’t talk to each other- like two people waiting to meet, each waiting at a different bar with a confusingly similar name.
Once I installed Streaming Assistant on my PC too, finally the wired connection worked like a charm.
So now my question is, If I start the connection with Streaming Assistant and then I run PICO Connect, probably, the whole thing would work, with the SA working as a bridge with the Connect.
We will see. I am hopeful, but even if it wasn’t working 20 EUR for Virtual Desktop don’t look terrible.
It is confusing to have those two SW floating around, and as you mentioned the instructions are not very robust always. My advice going forward, try to get rid of the SA wholly for streaming purposes and concentrate on the Connect. It should work without SA.
Virtual Desktop is very good software offering more options to WIFI streaming + media streaming + best VR desktop experience. I think it is a must buy even if you would use Connect for game streaming.
BTW, if you get good feedback on some games from your kids, please share. It seems I will have some kids (age group 12-16) visiting soon and have been tasked to come up some entertainment. VR could be on the list
