Did you read the part in the story where one customer sued after spending $4500k and trying to get a refund, lost the case or had it dismissed or something, then has paid for MORE ships since??
I find human behavior so bizarre and alien to me at times that I often question if I really am a human. There is a laundry list of things that are supposedly traits of human beings that do not apply to me at all. I donāt just not have them, I canāt understand those who do.
How different that behavior is from those in Las Vegas that piece by piece lose everything?
Sure they donāt complain⦠They keep promising themselves āoooh next one is my big winā.
Thatās my issue with this.
Itās a biased gamble.
Spending 4-5k for a computer game is ridiculous to ME, but keep in mind there are other hobbies that are much much more expensive.
Itās all relative.
If you have the disposable income I donāt see any grounds to judge how one blows it. I know people that are season ticket holders to the Cowboys, and that is about 20-30k just for the rights to buy the tickets.
Itās not Vegas, itās going to a restaurant and getting food poisoning, taking them to court, and then going back to eat there afterwards.
Iāve never heard of a gambler suing a casino and then returning there to gamble more.
Or, if that has happened, then thatās it. Iām done. Iām officially not a human being because I cannot understand that behavior. I donāt want to be considered the same species as anyone that stupid.
Itās not like I understand gambling to begin with. Or people who jump out of planes, or bungee jump, or take drugs, or an entire laundry list of things I find ridiculously unappealing.
As one of the tiny percentage of the population that is made physically ill by adrenaline, I cannot conceive how it feels to others or why they would wish it upon themselves.
Imagine you were told tomorrow that eating dog crap was an awesome sensation, but only if it doesnāt smell bad to you. If it smells bad, then itās like eating crap. You rightly conclude you are not one of those people and then watch in confusion as numerous people around you happily eat it because it gives a great ābuzz.ā
I wasnāt referring to that guy, but the the SC crowdfunding in general.
It can not and should not be compared to an investment.
To a proper extent every kickstarter is a gamble but at least is limited in time- when SC moved from the kickstarter platform to their own ⦠well⦠thatās when control was lost and Chris Roberts almighty did the usual thing he always did in the past.
I have no idea how to play this game - Iād be happy to jump in on MP if anyone wants to look around for a laugh. Last time I did that was with some of the Oculus crowd about 2 years ago.
Iāve spent about Ā£80+ on it - first the game (when it wasnāt two separate things) and a basic ship, then I upgraded to an Origin 300i. Funny thing is, last time I jumped in for alook - earlier this year - I wasnāt given the option to fly the Origin - just the bog basic starter ships.
Also, that time when we joined as a group, the main thing we came across was lots of people aimlessly walking around this large space city, probably taking in the sights, whilst asking again and again what they were supposed to do. Seems no-one knew how to play (including us!). Thatās my biggest beef with the game - you have to rely on other players to find out anything about playing (unless it changed since).
Otherwise, I gave up on it long ago - but would be happy if it got reasonably close to finished as a playable game with something to achieve (but no achievements! lol)
Iāve been a backer for a while (6 years!?) and this version (3.71) is actually somewhat playable. Itās still got a long way to go, but this is the first version Iāve tried that I didnāt give up on after an hour or so.
This post on reddit has all the information you need to get started:
Oooh that reminds me that I havenāt played it since I got my new PC.
That being said: I did enjoy it the last few times, looking forward to seeing whatās new now.
