Quick note to anyone of you guys who are thinking about getting steel beasts and live in the uk, a friend of mine has just tried to purchase the life time licence with the USB key, and has been told they no longer ship the USB keys to the uk ( to do with reclaiming VAT and import duties)
And that he can only purchase the timed licences that come without the usb stick …
unluck, because many years ago when i bought my usb version was on release day of sbp-pe and i had to paid taxes, vat, fees, import duties etc. But it was in my country side.
Usually when you have that its on your country side, you paid like 100€ to origin and + 50 to your own governement. I imagine that many people when goes to customs to lift the package and they asked more money goes wild and blame the unguilty source.
Also recently in european laws, they start to enforce shops to fee the taxes on the source according to the destination/buyer country and for many companies it creates a pita in their accounter and stop selling to that countries.
Also i remember a company that have a usb hardlock key to protect their software and after some months they created a way to never more need to send the usb key, when the customer with a fresh normal usb key could create with the license and their software build a hardware locking unique for their software. BUT OFC it always depends of the type of hardlock softwares used by the devs. Sad that esimgames not use something similar to avoid that transfer of usb keys.
Also another solution (that was legal, but depends of how open mind companies are), and also i saw in some copanies. You buy the software (example 1000 € ) and then you download it, and their hardkey, goes alone by mail with a receipt of only 10€ because is what their cost is and is what is really on the mail. So they separate the software pure download with a pdf receipt by email, with a hardware thats only 10€ only on physical mail box. So for many countries if that usb key goes in an envelope (not box) and with a receipt of only 10€ it have zero taxes. IMHO its a bit unfair sending a usb pen and with a receipt of 1000€ to destroy the pocket of the customer.
When I bought my copy a few years ago, the USB key was shipped and I had to pay the import duty which was about 20% of the cost of the item, I wonder if now you could get the key shipped to a person in a country they will ship to then get it sent on … just an idea😀
