Stream Deck - Elgato

Anyone using one of these for their simming? Have one coming next week and looking for a profile as a starting point or tips?

Well, this was 2 years ago… guess not huh?

Saw this on a you tube advertisement thought to see if it would work for DCS.

I use a Stream Deck regularly for streaming, and I love it, so I imagine it would work well for a complex sim like DCS.

I don’t know if it works just as a button box or not, but a while back I did see someone using a plugin that used LUA scripts to enable the stream deck lights etc:

Now they’re making a keyboard with an integrated streamdeck. Looks very nifty to me but wouldn’t get it because they sacrificed the numpad for it, which we need so much for our sims.

They named it the Galleon 100SD

I wonder if you could make it function like a numpad as one of the (probably) many modes you could select for those buttons..?

you can absolutely bind numpad keys to this

But to me, that is kind of defeating the point.

I think it looks like a cool idea, if you can swap modes for the numpad that is. You could have all sorts of icons and functions there, in addition to using it as a numpad.

Fully agree, except that with that 4*3 grid, it is 5 keys down of being a full numpad.

Cool setup especially for streaming (their main public). I can see a streamer using only one reasonably good mechanical keyboard to play on and having a good small panel with a couple of dials for audio and some OBS controls on the numpad area. For us, that really like a lot of buttons and switches placed everywhere, I don’t see the point.

Now their modular system where you can custom build boxes seem pretty cool. That is a problem I think some of us do have. Streamlining functionality between our different peripherals could be beneficial (less usb cables and better use of desk space). I’d love if my 6 LED colored buttons on my Virpil throttle could be replaced by a stream deck. I think it would be awesome to have something like this. Maybe they can fabricate a solution where we can incorporate some custom built stream decks into our controllers and button boxes.

When Elgato creates a keyboard I expect 104 buttons with an oled display. So I can switch to whatever layout I want.

The other products already exist, so why tack a 4x3 grid to a keyboard? Makes little sense to me.

For editing and content creation it would be amazing (provided the keys are good)

Sure, but you get two rotaries and I guess they have a push function. Plus i don’t think I have ever used the full numpad for sims, so I still think this keyboard would be a better option for simming. I definitely don’t see this keyboard as inferior to a full one. Too bad I am madly in love with my C=64 keyboard with matching numpad.

Oooh, that looks old school in a very good way. Also no keys got butchered, just cool stuff added. :face_blowing_a_kiss::ok_hand:
