Tech help from tech guru's

Well I have run Memtest86, and well. It didn’t do so good. Though I don’t understand the report. So yeah, maybe some funky memory?

anyhow this is what it says, can you guys determine anything from this? There was over 10,000 errors.

So the plot thickens. I’d test all the dimms like above. When you single out the faulty specimen, you’ll have peace of mind and can order a replacement.

@Bogusheadbox Hows your motherboard BIOS? When I tried to update to win 10 on my desktop I kept getting crashes, Turns out my motherboard wasnt win 10 compatible. Probably not your issue but maybe something to look at

@weaponz248 As far as i can tell, the mobo is compatible. But thanks for the info.

As an update on the ram, i am definitely making progress.
I pulled out two sticks and mem tested. 3.5 hours later approx 4000 errors. Not a good start.
After the test, i changed out for the other 2 and had a funny anomaly.
At bios start up it said it could not apply overclock to the ram. I scratched my head, as far as i knew i wasn’t running an overclock to the ram. Jumped into settings, xmp was disabled and manual settings were in place. I am sure, four or so months ago when i upgraded the ram i used xmp and stock settings.
Looking into the timings on the manual bios settings, they did not match the standard timings of the ram.
So changed it all back to normal, with no overclock and started memtest86 again.
Its 83% through first wave of testing and not one single error. At this point the other two sticks of ram had upwards of 1000 errors.
So wondering if…
A. one or both of the first two sticks are faulty
B. Somehow my bios changed its settings on the ram and the different timings were causing the problem and the first set of ram may actually be ok.

So i will retest the first set again with correct timings and ensure bios settings before test.

So thanks to everyone for pointing out the ram issue. It may not be the root cause, but there was a definite problem here that needed addressing.

Thanks guys !!!

OK for the final on the ram issue,

The 2 sticks of 8 that was running without errors completed their test perfectly.

I then left them in and stuck in the previous set of ram that had errors. Checked bios has the right settings and ram tested. I was only about a minute into the test and we already had somewhere between 20 and 40 errors.

So from that I definitely have dodgy ram. Shop has said I can RMA them and that is a job for tomorrow. Now its a case of jumping into DCS and seeing I can still replicate the BSOD (hoping not).

Thanks again for mentioning the ram. From the way the computer was performing that was the last place I was thinking of looking.

Yeah again a big thanks to everyone.

I don’t want to jinx it, but DCS is running flawlessly at the moment.
