So something is up, right? I was away from DCS for a year and was wondering why the heck it was so much harder to hit bombs!

It will, but since it’s ED there’s no timeline for that fix other than in the future
Yes essentially ED updated the GPS/ INS simulation but only on the Viper. They didn’t feel the need to add the necessary modes needed to keep gps weapons effective. They denied any issue since spring though they just recently admitted that the last update broke CCIP. So now 6 years after release the viper is vitally crippled in the air to ground role. (My limited understanding)
Say what you will about devs maintaining modules forever, I just want them to stop breaking things that already worked!

The INS fix system is…weird as well. The Viper’s VRPCCRP/VIPCCRP (plus PUP, OA1, OA2) is specifically designed for precise popup strikes with dumb bombs, but with the amount of drift we get over even short flights the PUP/OA1/OA2/TD symbology is so far off it can’t be employed even if you do an INS fix multiple times before your attack run.

So reading through the ED Forum post it sounds like the F-16 is stuck in the middle of the A-10 and F0-15E JDAM implementation.
In the A-10 you have to use a sensor to set up the JDAM, IIRC., Basically TOO mode no PP mode, The F15E you can use PP or TOO. It almost seems to me that the 16 tried to implement PP mode as well as TOO mode but just isn’t good at PP mode.
Now that being said I cant believe this would be correct IRL, No way the military is letting a bomb drop that wildly inaccurate.

Well, they don’t charge for the DCS core software, so what they build and sell pretty much represent the income they get… So, yes!
