Ah, I never read the books. Just watched the series.
This is one of my biggest problems with streaming service adaptations. Lack of respect for the source material.
From all I’ve heard, the expanse did a much better job than many, but I’ve been burned too often by shows that make a big deal of being based off of this or that popular/famous property, only to have showrunners that could never get their own schlock funded/produced “reimagine” the whatever it is to the point that former fans cant even find more than a scattering of recognizable remains of what drew them to be interested in watching in the first place.
Wheel Of Time, Rings of Power, The Witcher, Westworld, Most of modern Star Wars, Foundation…
Bleh.
(I’ll admit lost in Space was better than the show it was based off of, but the story went so far afield, that its clear once again that somebody took the name and some basic story beats then went off and completely did their own thing. I never watched after the first season)

I LOVE the TV Amos. And the book Amos too. And actually @Victork2 you fit either character closer than anyone I know. (Minus the whoring and sociopathic tendencies of course)

Because I am such an avid reader of sci-fi, The Expanse is one of the rare exceptions where I watched the show before I read the books, and didn’t suffer from my usual “But that’s not like the book” rage.
And yeah, Amos was my favourite character from the books and show as well, but at least they didn’t change him as much for TV as they did Bobby.

I loved TV bobby. She ruled. Hot as F too.
At first I bounced off of TV Expanse because having just read all the books, there was no suspense to it at all to me. I knew all the story beats. Luckily I’ve taken enough punches in my life to not be able to perfectly retain that knowledge, so a couple years later, I had a whale of a time with Expanse TV.
In what way did you all think TV Amos is different from book Amos?

I think the TV Amos is more ‘introspective’ and talkative than the book Amos… who is more a creature of pure instinct.
And the book Bobby is much more of an Amazon badass… Vasquez and Ripley rolled into one.

I also liked the way they rolled a few of the side characters into one. Loved to see Drummer earlier and with an expanded role.
