Less fun answer. These ‘active factors’ in dynamic ads use your ad settings from Google. Your search history is used to build your profile. If you have a Google account you can view what it thinks you like and want to see an advert about. @Rhinosaurus has been googling military airplanes, so a site like Livestly will cover all the ad categories and fish him the one he might click on.

The one that always makes people jump a bit is the location history, of which the ad profile can use (again, if you’re signed in then it’ll show you yours):
