Ah ok, no worries.
So final mission for me last night. Conquered the two outsposts in the small peninsula south of our southernmost Airfield.
Nothing remarkable to report- I just love having a Medic, an Autorifleman and an AA Missile soldier in my team. Wish I started hiring them earlier.
So, dismounting my gaming PC for the moving this week…
See you on the other side.
Best of luck!
I lied, I’m dismounting it tonight. I had to Conquer that last outpost at the south of the peninsula. By pure chance* we got also a village on the other side of the southern Gulf.
*me and my three men shot so many AAF soldiers that the calculation for ‘impressing’ the civilians contaminated the nearest village… Which was on the other side of the island.
A small plea… Be careful as the CSAT is gaining more and more places north east of Altis. Almost reached the central plains.
Do I hear a call for an Amphibious Assault?
Don’t know about that BUT I know that if you trust me now that we have two airports we have massive amounts of CAE support. I conquered those last outpost by mixing two tactics…
Step 1) snipe the most prominent Anti Aircraft threats
Step 2) examine how the main infantry formation has took stance
Step 3) call in a Napalm airstrike
Step 4) smoke a cig/have a power nap/clean your rifle while the flames and the screaming subside
Step 5) move in with your fire team and pick the remaining stragglers
Step 6) you now own a new outpost! Set up your AA missile trooper on an elevated point and shoot down the eventual helicopter dropping the counterattack
Jokes aside, we have a lot of airpower now, except it’s fragile. It’s literally a Pilatus with canisters of Napalm, that’s why picking out with a sniper rifle AAA or shoulder mounted Aa Missiles is important, beside that… call between 1 and 3 airstrikes and you can clean up the most hardened strongpoint.
That napalm stuff works wonder! No matter if they are inside a building, or an APC, or… you name it - they are as good as dead.
Only care you need is, 1) make sure you read the map right and drop that stuff where the enemy will be in the circa 30 seconds it takes the plane to arrive, and 2) make sure you keep the mouse steady when marking the Ingress and Egress points as there’s input lag.
The Airstrikes have different ordnance, Napalm yeah, but also cluster bombs, and high explosive.
OK, obviously I am just a tourist here. But for a thread titled “No Operational Planning in Progress”, you all sure seem to do a lot of not planning. Also, you fight like Russians! (Unfortunately that’s a compliment.)
Dunno, the title is more a tongue in cheek reference to the largely useless mission planning I did in the past…
Also as much as I try to make sense of the ‘compliment’ you paid me- if I remember correctly calling CAS and napalm the enemy is much more a vietnam era American stereotype rather than the russian modus operandi of flattening civilian buildings with artillery so… color me curious
EDIT: there I changed the title.
@komemiute, I am really sorry! All of that was written as a joke. Like the BG3 thread, I am veiling my jealously at others for getting so much joy out of a game by mildly poking fun at the effort.
Seeing you call in napalm was as out of character as imagining @Harry_Bumcrack enjoy carnal relations with a bear.
Off the top of my mind, just like this- maybe given the actual events comparing me to Russians is not what I would call a joke or “mild poking fun”.
But, you know, YMMV…
If you feel like you have to explain the idea behind that comparison, please do it in Private Messages as I don’t think there’s much here to the general public.
The other night I had that exact same thought as I resorted to sending the third human wave of leg infantry to retake the same airbase for the second time. The previous two platoons I’d sent in were… no longer combat effective…
Now that sounds like the russians we all loathe.
I will be honest- I tried to pick this again but somehow between real world news and all that’s going on privately I just managed to move the HQ
I want to find back the same feeling I had when we started but I just feel too damn down.
I think I know some of those feelings too…
When Mrs. Troll got diagnosed with cancer, I started on my FFB stick build. I needed something to occupy myself with without hiding away in VR.
Things improved and summer came along, with actual summer weather for once, so donning the goggles wasn’t a priority and outdoors activities made me shelve the FFB project.
Now I can’t seem to find it in me to clean the workbench to continue the project and the SimBox has been tucked away for months. I guess I need time to forget, or at least be able to ignore, the memory of the feelings that occupied my mind when I last tinkered with the FFB build.
The state of the rest of the world ain’t helping none either…
Hang in there buddy!
@TeTeT
there was an update and the server is not working anymore…
I don’t want to pressure you- we basically won anyways- but I wanted to know if it was possible to run the update?
Hi,
I’ve updated the Antistasi mod now, have fun
I just reread our beginnings- we own about 40% of the map now. What a change from our humble beginnings…
Who would like to sign up for “The Professionals” fire team?
@Troll Is it feasible to create a tag like “@Professionals” and be able to add or remove members for quick call-to-duty sort of things?
1st of May is a holiday here in Germany - so I was thinking of playing 2024-04-30T19:00:00Z - nothing too serious, just to pick up guns again and dust some cobwebs and maybe kill some baddies.
I created a Group and put you in charge of it. It should work like that. Let me know if you need me to make changes. I think you have full control of it, but I’m not sure. Anybody can join.
Perfect! Many many thanks
