I am probably back to when I spent more time creating content for MSFS than actually flying it, but in any case
keep me quite mentally agile

Guess I’m doing the same but with DCS, right now for my own edutainment. It is one problem to solve after another…but when you do solve it, ahhh. Then move on to the next one.
Am in the process of completely rewriting the mech for coordinated strikes where you join the AI in attacking a target simulatenously[1]. My IRL ‘model’ was an ‘Alpha Strike’ (moreso the day 1 attacks ala Desert Storm) except most of them come from different bases all over the map[2].
It worked but I had trouble getting them to STOP reliably. Among some other things.
I was working from the mindset of: Go There; Hold until the ‘Push time’ (IRL thing); Bomb This; Stop attacking; go home.
Its working out better to, basically, always have them ‘going home’ but interrupt that flow with an attack along the way. Hard to explain. Either way it’s working better now.

[1] I’ts pretty cool to see all those symbols (on your MFD if you have one) and/or contrails (depending on what weather was generated) converging on a location.
Esp. when you all have to orbit at an IP before pressing for the attack; getting the ‘holding stack’ to deconflict vertically was a PITA; it feels more ‘alive’ when you are orbiting with other units - you need to be at your assigned altitude too of course. They [ED] seem to have improved upon the AI handling of doing AR - it was horrible a couple of years ago so I punted; gave them all unlimted fuel and skipped the In/out AR thing. Recent test show it should work [better] now. Thank you to the AI dude at ED.
[2] When I initially wrote it DCS didn’t handle it well when they all started on the same boat; solvable but not ready to attack that method again, yet
I’m 59.65782 years old, not retired yet, but I am sooo looking forward to being able to spend more time mucking around games/sims/computer in general. At the moment I’m captured by running old Mac systems {think System 7, OS8, OS9) in emulated machines, just having a blast. My wife is not interested in computers at all but knows it’s my happy place.
A lesson I’ve finally learnt (always late in my life with these things) is don’t have the wrong people in your life.
