So, I see this thread is a winsy bit dated. I decided to revive it because I bought this game. First thing I did was find some YT videos to ensure I could use my HOTAS and Track IR. So, off I went and I programmed some buttons and some Axis. Not hard at all. There are enough buttons and axis to make it usable without making it obnoxious. Its a game and the flight models are simplistic. The focus is on fun. I have simply dipped my toes in but had me a laugh and a good time. I plan on giving more of a review towards the end of the year…. Yes, in 10 days or so, lol.
Here are some videos for those who are interested. Oh, and it cost me less than 20 bucks on Steam.
I picked this one up this evening, and after wrestling with the control setup, I am now up and running with my Tobii Eye Tracker and HOTAS. It’s very cool, and the aircraft design is pretty neat.
I tried the demo, but have not been able to get it to play nice with my setup. As a result, I’m hesitant to get the full release. Who knows, I might take wait for the next time it goes on sale, then take advantage of Steam’s return policy if things do not work out.
It wasn’t the easiest to set up with regard to controllers mainly due to controller conflicts. Like VTOL, I think there is a lot more going on under the hood than people would imagine from first looks… but I still prefer VTOL just for how intuitive the controls are…and of course VR.
I read somewhere that the best way to set up HOTAS is to clear out all the assignments, then build from there. I’m going to try that approach with the demo.
I’ve had controller issues with MW5 and have defaulted to playing with keyboard and mouse. Sux because I feel that big stompy mechs should be controlled with HOTAS.
