The USAF is rolling out its new UPT trainer. Love the name and livery of the launch aircraft.

Cute.
I do prefer the M-346 just for plain Italianism but in reality I really don’t care either way- cute mini fighters are cute nevertheless.
I would like to be the specialist of that sim for a week.
The Red Hawk is part SAAB and Swedish meatballs beats Pizza any day of the week!
But seriously, it’s a nice bird! The downside is that it replaces the T-38, which is soooo pointy and nice!
On the pro side one could also mention that it replaces the T-38 which can be a handful for new pilots (and old).
I love that it’s called Red Tail and why. Good show chair force. I also love its look, such a cute dinky little jet. Boyd would have loved it.
Agree. The Talon being the sleek icon that it is, at least the T-7A is Talon-esque. As much as it can be and fulfill the mission role.
It’s pretty. Totally agree with @Troll about the Talon, both in look and challenge. Your first girlfriend needn’t AND SHOULDN’T be Anya Taylor Joy. She should be a slightly plump cheerleader with braces.
The Top Mach Studios rendition. Some might label them as using the antithesis of the well researched ED method. At least until the F-35’s release. I own their B-2 Spirit, which while leaving a bit of the flying experience to the imagination of the developer, is enjoyable regardless. Watching this video has me interested in learning more.
I think there’s a lot of value to that though. This isn’t someone earning their PPL, and the US isn’t a nation with a limited pool of applicants. To steal the line, it lets them find out who has “the right stuff.”
It sounds like the thrust to weight ratio will be pretty good in the Red Hawk, albeit with many decades of aerodynamic knowledge under our belts since the T-38 was launched.
And a very high cost…
The T-38 isn’t particularily hard to fly but is very unforgiving to mistakes.
The USAF has had to make several changes to how they train pilots in the T-38 because of its handling characteristics, in recent years.
Gone are the days when fighter aircraft were hard to fly. These days it’s knowledge about the advanced systems, cooperation and tactics that’s the stuff needed.
I think the T-7 will be a sturdier stepping stone going to modern fighters.
