Being the Su-57 is basically a copy of the F-22, it’s possible an F-22 was used with post production CGI editing. Kind of like a deep fake for aircraft. Definitely not the first time it’s been done, but also not the cheapest method of film production versus simply using 100% CGI.
Nonetheless, I’m sure there will be a more complete behind the scenes/how it was filmed edition of this film.
I would put my house on their being less chance of an Airforce plane being used in this movie than an actual Russian plane
wouldnt need to deep fake a shot like that, just need a PBR Rendering and correct lighting, the shot is so fast, no one will notice unless they frame by frame the sequence.
…*edit video gas been removed
Mover just reuploaded it, minus the mailbag stuff after the Top Gun chat. Anyways, here it is. It’s a good listen if you’re into the production and behind the scenes stuff of movies.
It’s Confirmed, Lada Gaga recorded the new Love Theme Song for Maverick:
So this is the replacement for Berlin’s Take My Breathe Away…
Dare we ask what’s replacing Dangerzone and Mighty Wings?
Loggins is doing Dangerzone. But likely a retuned version. Mighty Wings? Who knows…
You can throw out the entire Top Gun 1 soundtrack but Danger Zone is an essential part of the Top Gun DNA imho. Just hearing it on the radio gives me the need…for speed .
well it hasn’t been remastered properly since it’s release, soooooo
Cheap Trick still alive and kickin, but like ACDC, it’s like watching the tenants of the retirement home have a concert.
I’ma check, but I think the entire soundtrack drops on May 1st on Apple Music.
I beg to differ Sir Paul. At least one more.
I wouldn’t mind if they used this at some point.
it only applied to 3 minutes of the movie.
it’s actually been used more prominently in 2 other movies.
Oh I disagree.
They should let Lil Nas X do his own version of “Playing With the Boys.”
The video would be spectacular.
I always thought the Faltermeyer instrumental that plays before Danger Zone kicks in was underrated.
Danger Zone is grating. The instrumental prologue is terrific. I am a poor judge. I never warmed to Top Gun.
Instead of adding a new post below. So yeah…I went to the theater by myself at 17 wild with anticipation. My flight instructor and mentor at the time practically worshipped Art Schole. So I knew about the film well before it released. The opening moment was great. But I immediately hated the colored filter used to highlight the horizon. Seriously, I distinctly remember how much that bothered me! Crazy, right? Then the Loggins bit, which I loathed. The inverted Polaroid shot was dumb. Mcgillis was irritating. The volleyball scene brought out the unfortunate homophobe in me (which I quickly grew out of).
I have a very hypercritical relationship with films. I loved every minute of The Final Countdown, though. So I’m not a total hater.
When I first watched TG I recall finding the music and movie kind of cheesy, Hollywood-ish-like. Identical to most movies made at the time. But, there’s no accounting for taste.
The only exception being the, in total, about 10 minute of sensational (though not completely realistic) aviation cinematography.
Danger Zone grew on me due the primal association with those 10 minutes. The remaining film was pure Hollywood plot, predictable within the first 5 minutes.
I took myself a bit too seriously back then - for example: I didn’t care for the movie Airplane so much (I was 21?). Didn’t think it was funny. Now I freely drop references to it when the situation warrants
Some things just grow on you.
Miley Cyrus
Lady Gaga Sampled the Harold Faltermeyer Score for her track
Her version of Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters was seriously good. I could see her knocking Top Gun sound track out of the park.
