One more broken. TrackIR number 3 evidence:
With repairs I look like some sort of futuristic cyber-hobo. A Radioshack borg drone.
I wish they were a bit more robust.

What the heck do you guys do with these poor things to break them, knock on wood mine has been holding strong for years…
Same here. knock on wood
It’s because I take it on and off a lot I think. The head band of my various headphones is pretty thick, so the clasp base sort of rubs on my ol’ noggin, encouraging me to remove it when not useful.
Plus when just listening to music I feel less of a complete numpty without the ‘side of head extension arm’ sitting there.
The actual plastic clip joints seem to be made of faerie tears or something.
I’m a true gamer. I’ve had the LEDs surgically embedded in my forehead. It’s a conversation starter…
See…this guy did it. TrackIR receivers in his forehead. Convenient bottle opener hanging from one lobe. What’s not to envy?
BeachAV8R
Eww. I think the studs need to be different Z distances.
Anyway, VR will make everyone better looking. Here he is again, but looking better:
I can really recommend the Delan clip!
Or fixing your track clip with Sugru
@Troll - LOL…I had to Google that one…never heard of Sugru… Took me to a very satisfying infomercial that I just couldn’t stop watching…
BeachAV8R
Ha! Awesome!
Sugru is as essential as duct tape!
That looks very well done @Troll - I’ll look out for that stuff.
I wonder if with much smaller cameras nowadays that head tracking wouldn’t be easier going the other way, i.e. the camera/sensor on the headphones headband and the three positional IR lights on the monitor instead. That’s how the wiimote did it, with the camera in the thing you hold and the ‘sensor’ under the TV just being three dumb IR lights. It has the advantage in that for Z the lights need to be spread out enough for an angle and that doesn’t matter around a monitor, while a tiny camera on a headset could be, well, tiny.
Yeah, you’re right! That sounds like a better way of doing it… Been a while since Naturalpoint released anything new. Wonder what they’re up to these days.
