As far as I can tell its the Primary Heat Exchanger Intake.
Im not sure that’s for ECS, avionics, or APU however.

I’d like ED to produce a whitepaper on the aerodynamic proporties of this ordnance. Like Heatblur did for the AIM-154!
those look like the fun kind of war crimes!
That IS cool. But unless it’s a fast low pass I predict it will end badly.
Also, hard to believe that was just 10 years ago. Seems like ancient history to me.
Nekkid kitty, I can see how that took some man-hours to keep going…
That reminds me of my old man’s Series 2 XJS Jag before he swapped the original engine for a 350 Chev - bloody plumbers nightmare
That’s an interesting combo.
What is that picture’s story?
i would imagine cold war … germany ?
That’s what I thought too with so many RAF Jaguars over there.
But it would be a weird place to fly an SR-71 so low, so close to the DDR.
According to this watermarked Reddit post, it’s over Norfolk:
Looking up 41 Squadron’s history, this picture is probably somewhere from the 1976-1991 timeframe
I have to admit I have no further details, I did think it was kinda interesting that it was so low, figured it was near the end of the Cold War…
It could also be from after the Gulf War or even Balkan deployments. 41 Squadron flew the Jag until 2006. But I thought the picture looked older. Might be edited though.
And yes, it certainly does look cool!!
