US under drone siege?

Judging by what CNN, Fox, and every other news outlet are reporting, credible or otherwise, we are. Federal legislators, mayors, and low enforcement heads are reporting likewise. Iranian mother ships launching fleets of demon drones.

It’s a War of the Worlds invasion.

But, every image or video clip that I’ve seen but one look very much like usual fixed wing or rotor aircraft night operation. The one drone video that was on a news segment, was well lit and looked to be operating within FARs, I.E, below 400 ft AGL. So, until they have some substantiated evidence, I remain skeptical.

Ha ha ha, exactly. Here there be dragons!

All sounds a bit familiar to me…

I recall years and years ago sitting on the patio with some friends/relatives, doing the BBQ thing. Clear, cool fall day.

More than one looked up and asked, "Why do those clouds look like that sometimes? All long an skinny. They [initially] thought I was some kind of genius (or pulling their leg) when I replied, “yeah, see that little [“gimme 5 right for traffic”] bend in that one, it was ‘placed there’ so it wouldn’t run into that other cloud”.

I used to joke with my wife that if they made it mandatory to put smoke generators on aircraft people would never fly. Assuming they ever looked ‘up’.

Social media is a hellhole of sheisters and idiots. That we allow the knuckle-dragging lemmings who feed off this crap to direct the news cycle bodes badly for society’s survival.

A year or so before I ‘went out the door’ being asked if I wanted to represent our facility (at a boondoggle) to discuss a couple of topics:

  1. Drones
  2. Some crazy dude wanting to launch rockets into orbit from (I forget the name of the restricted area. R-something) - a ‘high desert’ site; there was some coordination required.

I said, ‘nope’, I was tired of the whole thing.

I kinda chuckle at how both of those ‘evolved’.

Yup, my wife rolls her eyes at me to this day, when I quip, “hmmm, who da thunk it?”.

I made the comment in, oh, about 2008-ish? (when I said I’d never do Facebook or it’s ilk) that this ‘stuff’, along with ‘smart’ phones was going be a A PROBLEM.

Based on observations of human nature, borne from many years of driving on public roads as a starter.

I figured so much back when MySpace was a thing. I honestly saw the then nascent social media and concluded that this is emotional crack, a place for the worst narcissistic tendencies in all of us.

I was 18. You know, a dumbass. Because all 18 year olds are dumbasses. But, I even saw that.

Honestly, the world would be a better place if more people just listened to me, I swear. The internet should be a place where we go to learn and make ourselves better individuals for having met people from different political point of views, cultures, faiths etc.

It should not a place where that obnoxious jerk-off you knew in high school, who’d do or say anything for attention, to make tens of thousands by screaming antisemitic ideas at everyone he can via facebook.

You had common sense. Greed was enough of an incentive for some really ‘smart’ people to rationalize away all those ‘voices’, asking good questions.

The latest deep intel. Gonky’s spot on, “If it’s aliens, at least they have their nav lights and strobes on.”

Yeah they just had some experienced aviation photographer on Fox Business and he kept saying “I don’t know, I think these are manned aircraft?? They look pretty normal to me” while the anchors kept trying to push that the sky was falling, almost literally, because no one can tell them what they are.

I mean, if they are flying legally IFR, how much does the public NEED to know every little detail?
Now if they violate restricted airspace at airports, bases, etc, that’s different, but then the authorities are the ones who need to find out…they don’t need to tell us.

Remember how the U-2 and SR-71 had bright strobes as they loitered over one spot making sure everyone on the ground could see them?? These must be Chinese spy drones (with humans inside and US registrations).

This is amazing to witness. Most are obviously planes or helos with nav lights on, then some bedwetters send up their own private drones or start shining lasers, then the authorities send up helos and drones to hunt rthe laser and private drone idiots and now everyone is confused and frightened.

Being the States, I’m amazed that nobody’s started shooting planes down yet.

See, that’s what makes them the perfect spy craft. No one will suspect it! Checkmate!

They probably have a little buzzing inkling in the back of their exceptionally thick skulls that goes along the lines of “What if these are military aircraft or drones? Those tend to shoot back”

Rumors flying around these are sniffing out a broken arrow. Not sure how much i believe this obviously but it would explain a few things about the secrecy and the clear misinformation.

Considering how rarely they carry those by air anymore, I find it extremely dubious.
Now searching for something classified that broke off a plane, yes, absolutely I can see that.

In a related incident, the pilot who bailed from his still operational F-35 only for it to fly on for quite a while and crash in the woods requiring days to locate was actually a commander of that squadron or something and was relieved because, boiling down the final report, “he should have known better.”

Correct. Its weird. I also read a psychotic rant about it being something dirty flown over from ukraine or a remnant of the soviet nuclear briefcase bombs.

Mental. But it has got people worried. It doesnt help that the government is being all weird about it.

My money is on it being an exercise.

As the famous quote that has been attributed to numerous people over the past couple of centuries says, “Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence”

When the gov’t says they don’t know something, 9 times out of 10 I believe they are clueless.

As George Carlin remarked, “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” The gov’t is not comprised of the smartest people in the country, it reflects its makeup accurately.

DHS, FBI, FAA & DoD Joint Statement on Ongoing Response to Reported Drone Sightings

Tuesday, December 17, 2024

There are more than one million drones lawfully registered with the FAA in the United States and there are thousands of commercial, hobbyist and law enforcement drones lawfully in the sky on any given day. With the technology landscape evolving, we expect that number to increase over time.

FBI has received tips of more than 5,000 reported drone sightings in the last few weeks with approximately 100 leads generated, and the federal government is supporting state and local officials in investigating these reports. Consistent with each of our unique missions and authorities, we are quickly working to prioritize and follow these leads. We have sent advanced detection technology to the region. And we have sent trained visual observers.

Having closely examined the technical data and tips from concerned citizens, we assess that the sightings to date include a combination of lawful commercial drones, hobbyist drones, and law enforcement drones, as well as manned fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and stars mistakenly reported as drones. We have not identified anything anomalous and do not assess the activity to date to present a national security or public safety risk over the civilian airspace in New Jersey or other states in the northeast.

That said, we recognize the concern among many communities. We continue to support state and local authorities with advanced detection technology and support of law enforcement. We urge Congress to enact counter-UAS legislation when it reconvenes that would extend and expand existing counter-drone authorities to identify and mitigate any threat that may emerge.

Additionally, there have been a limited number of visual sightings of drones over military facilities in New Jersey and elsewhere, including within restricted air space. Such sightings near or over DoD installations are not new. DoD takes unauthorized access over its airspace seriously and coordinates closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement authorities, as appropriate. Local commanders are actively engaged to ensure there are appropriate detection and mitigation measures in place.

Australia seems to have skipped the flap so far, but I expect its only a matter of time. We have plenty of gullible folk who haven’t seen a plane at night.
