Nice. Would love to own one myself, even if they aren’t really that great in reality in terms of being an actual vehicle. But probably very fun to tinker with.
If you haven’t seen it, I recommend watching JerryRigEverything converting his to electric. Quite a lot of, probably, useful and interesting info even if the electrical part doesn’t interest you. Sadly he’s gotten a bit too… political for me lately, but still some interesting stuff now and then

Edit: Now saw your reply mentioning it :stuck_out_tongue: Keeping it in my post for anyone else interested though

Funnily enough I was out with my son today and I saw one like that just with 4 seat cabin.

So, we went down to dorset to meet and greet the new beast today.

In the flesh its not actually as big and wide as I feared. Its noticeably bigger than the trusty company Hilux. But not totally unmanageable. Its in great condition, the guy seems to have been totallu honest about the faults (they are legion) but nothing that is deal breaking or out of my own ability. Minor stuff, a lot of cosmetic restoration.

One major problem is the start box has blown on it which controls the glow plugs and inhibits starting. However i managed to get it bypassed and hot wired for a brief period before i got nervous and shut it down. Not the end of the world and the chap is going to order one before he delivers it (another result)

Few other bits need sorting out, the radiator is in a bad way, but i have found one to replace it.

My wife saw it for the first time today and she admitted it was cool and very cheap for the amount of metal.

Few more weeks, she will be on the driveway.

Those kids are thinking “BEST DAD EVAR!” and can’t wait to tell their peers at school what their dad got over the summer (I’m assuming kids are out of school for summer in the UK, is that correct? I recently realized in some countries it’s year-round!).

You may have already said, so I apologize if I missed it: Which engine does it have, the 6.2 or 6.5?

Also, here’s some inspiration:

A little PVC piping, and some 3D-printed nose cones and fins, and viola!

So when are you going to mount the .50 caliber? You know…for when you get stuck in traffic jams.

We were at the Tank show earlier and she came back from a trip to the loo with this.

Keeper. She’s definitely a keeper. I genuinely don’t understand how or why she puts up with me

Is it just an optical illusion or are the front tyres bigger than the rear?

It does look like it doesn’t it!

They need changing anyway as they are date stamped from 2008 but i hadnt noticed when i went to see it. They are probably the same as all hmmwv run the same size, but it definitely looks it from the picture now i see it

That’s a very good point …where the hell do you get tyres that big :grinning:

They would be 37’s yeah?

If so, I’m a big fan of Maxxis tyres, but there is no shortage of brands that won’t let you go full on mud monster with that Hummer
