Virpil switch box

Oh thats just lovely. Is the gear handle a light throw or is there a resistance to it?

The stick wizards must have been in the mindset to ship last week. I too received Virpil boxes of goodness today. :truck: :flight_arrival: :airplane: :flight_departure: :articulated_lorry:

Finally replacing my 9.5 year old Saitek Pro Flight Combat pedals. I generally do not have a high opinion of Saitek quality, having been through a number of X series HOTAS sets, worn out well before they should have, before going with TM and now Virpil. But, these pedals have been exceptionally good. They do not spike on any axis after undoubtedly hundreds, maybe thousands, of hours of simming over the last decade. I thought that they had developed a spike in the left brake pedal a couple of years ago. But that was easily solved with and Allen key. I kept waiting for them to die, but it eventually became clear that this was going to happen sometime after the release of the Mudhen and the Phantom.

Time for an upgrade. And the same switch box that @Troll ordered, although I haven’t a clue how I will mount it.

A couple of years ago I had the same problem with my set of CH Pro Pedals…after 15 years they just wouldn’t die. Eventually I just bit the bullet and bought my Crosswinds.

I think have the their litter-mate. They are ‘spiking’ too much for my liking now. Crosswinds sound good.

It does! The handle mechanism has three notches and a spring loaded bearing that travels over it. You can pull the lever and move the handle, or you can override the notches with a satisfying clunking sound

Nice! Interested in hearing your thoughts on those pedals…

I’m waiting for that one too! I wonder if it’s the next product in the line?

I have the same problem with the collective…

Some aircraft have an OFF position, that cuts the hydraulic pressure to the gear mechanism. Often used on russian aircraft, but also in more modern airliners, like the 737.

If you leave it up or down in the MiG 15, 19 and 21 you will run out of pneumatic (air) pressure and your brakes won’t work just when you need them. You also use your brakes for steering on the ground. So be careful about your limited air on those crates.

When you have to taxi your balalaika all over Nellis, you better be dang frugal on those brakes.

Right! They use air.

Answering my own question here. I hadn’t checked the MonsterTech site lately, but this solution looks perfect for my MT mounts. I have the same setup with my VPC throttle. They also have side mount solutions.

I swapped the cam for the two detent side and made a little hook knob for mine.

Hook

If anyone would like to print one, shoot me a PM and I can send you the .stl file.

I have my panel set up on the right side of my pit. I was thinking of making a Mirage 2000 canopy knob for the end as well.

Mr. @Troll, will you be connecting yours via an uplink to your throttle or as a separate USB device? I’m currently uplinked and it seems to be working well. Debating whether one method is better.

I was thinking of routing it via the throttle…

I’m connected and have all of the buttons and LEDs programmed, but hoping that there will be a software release or game update that will pass sim state, like gear up or down, back to the LEDs and buttons. That would allow proper annunciation. I continue to be impressed with the Virpil hardware. Will do a quick review on the rudder pedals in a few days.

Until mounting hardware arrives, I’ve used roadie strength Velcro on the front and resting on the rear rubber legs. Pretty solid.
