Dcs blackhawk confirmed :ok_hand:

I’d buy that!
I loved flying the Blackhawk in Longbow 2.

Sooooooo, I wasn’t planning on getting a collective because I never really needed one. Now, with DCS AH-64 on the horizon and this Hawk 60 collective, I’ve gotten a severe case of “Gotta Have It” Syndrome.

I have that too… It’s chronic but flares up every now and then. Don’t think there’s a cure.

I dont understand how do you guys can handle it, I just see it and I am like ‘nice, but I dont need everything’

disclaimer: in fact ‘everything’ in my case means old X55 and diy rudders… I need something better! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

yeah @chipwich, I know my lack of dedication is notorious and I just cant get over it  I ma happy that flight sim community is not full of guys like me, because we will be still playing EAW on keyboard

Hi,

I know I won’t be able to resist and I’m actually looking into it. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I’m waiting for some reviews and ideas for mounting options. My playspace is also my workspace, so mounting to my chair is not really an option. My area is starting to get quite busy with equipment.

I understand. I use Monstertech mounts, though I believe that Virpil makes their own. They are comparatively to move as long as you run the cables wisely.

I bought Foxx Mounts and I recently came across an image of someone mounting the collective on the same mount (looks like Monstertech) that their throttle is mounted. If that’s the case, I think I can go that route. I just have to figure out a new solution for stowing away the controls when I’m in work mode.

Cable ties work well holding the collective to the chair

Yes! Man after my own heart!

And a sturdy cardboard box (with a few heavy encyclopedia volumes inside - not much use anymore), of the requisite dimensions, serves as a handy, slide it under the desk when not in use, throttle platform. We be Ghetto now baby!

My center-mounted stick holder/keyboard rest is a garage scraps (plywood) prototype. Same principle as the Foxx mounts, et al. I’ve meant to re-build it for aesthetics but have yet to do so (cuz it works and I’m the only one who might care). Total cost ~$5.

Good news is you won’t have to

Did the motorcycle steering damper mod to my Virpil pedals today. I ordered the parts list that one of the early modders posted, but the sleeves didn’t fit in the swivel joints on the damper. So, I pulled out yee olde nuts and bolts box, and found that I had some M8 bolts that fit perfectly. They even had a smooth section near the cap that I greased before assembling.

The stock spring was not strong enough to center with the damper on the lightest setting, and doubling up the springs made the pressure required to move the rudders too strong. I fly with socks. But the accessory spring on the outer location is perfect. It has enough leverage to get a nice return to center, but the overall pressure is not too stiff.

Good job!
How do you like the feel, with the damper?
Maybe you need to secure the pedals to the floor?

You and I sure know that TM still is in the high end controller market as their Pendulum Rudders is a quality piece of kit.
Now I’m not in the market for a yoke, and if I were I would probably get one more suited for GA aircraft. That said, this Boeing style yoke seems like it’s good quality. I like how the movement in pitch and roll seems quite stiff, without being springy, if you know what I mean. And it’s always nice to see that good ol’ Thrustmaster still is in the business!
Judging from the vast amount of Boeing lovers out there in the flightsim world, I think this will sell like hotcakes!

K51 doesn’t seem to have these issues.

You are tightening both screws? There is a screw on the underside too.
The screws adjust the tension on the friction clutches and I’m thinking the clutches needs to be worn in, so to speak, and that adjustmen will be necessary in the beginning.

I’m curious, as I haven’t received mine yet, but are those tension adjusters spring loaded? Are you tightening a spring, by turning the screw?
Been wondering myself, if a counterweight would be a worthwhile mod for it.

Just getting impatient here, mine should arrive sometime next week, if all goes well :crossed_fingers:

Virpil long deskmount.

With the curved 200mm stick extension I find the mount is about three inches too short. I either need to raise my chair three inches or add a couple of bits of metal to lengthen the desk mount. Something like Meccano - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164846727145?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=164846727145&targetid=1278608953096&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=9046225&poi=&campaignid=14727339348&mkgroupid=127909237815&rlsatarget=pla-1278608953096&abcId=9300672&merchantid=113125801&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2NaNBhDvARIsAEw55hhM6E3CV2pnrD0YyNYD1sR99NYvtPUJ5-jNotkWwdIhoAgV3_uLSv0aAqatEALw_wcB

Suggestions please?

I haven’t had much time to play with my toys lately. This selling our house and moving keeps me occupied. But rest assured, if I encounter a problem with the collective dropping, I will fix it!
One question though… How does a real collective behave? Will it slowly sag downwards if you let go of it, or will it always remain in place, where the pilot left it?
