British kebab though …

The only worthwhile stuff is German Döner Kebab from your trusted Turkish immigrant or his descendants (known in German as your “Dönermann” and only he knows how to make a proper Döner Kebab)

Mit alles und scharf

The crimes that merited deportation to Australia:

  1. Grand Larceny, theft above the value of one shilling.
  2. Petty Larceny, theft under one shilling.
  3. Buying or receiving stolen goods, jewels, and plate…
  4. Stealing lead, iron, or copper, or buying or receiving.
  5. Impersonating an Egyptian.
  6. Stealing from furnished lodgings.
  7. Setting fire to underwood.
  8. Stealing letters, advancing the postage, and secreting the money.
  9. Assault with an intent to rob.
  10. Stealing fish from a pond or river.
  11. Stealing roots, trees, or plants, or destroying them.
  12. Bigamy.
  13. Assaulting, cutting, or burning clothes.
  14. Counterfeiting the copper coin…
  15. Clandestine marriage.
  16. Stealing a shroud out of a grave.
  17. Watermen carrying too many passengers on the Thames, if any drowned.
  18. Incorrigible rogues who broke out of Prison and persons reprieved from capital punishment.
  19. Embeuling Naval Stores, in certain cases.

My favourite is No5. Gypsies in the middle ages got an automatic death sentence. They developed a defence of claiming they were not gypsies but Egyptians. Henry VIII made impersonating an Egyptian a capital offence.

NB 19 Crimes is a really good wine brand. My favourite.

I thought I had a fairly wide vocabulary, but have never heard of Embeuling

so basically we could send them to the land down under for pretty much any crime that the punishment wasn’t death

Embueling. Interfering with stores belonging to the crown I think.

Especially their reds. Not a bad drop at all, consumed regularly in this household due to it’s great value for money.

The key to Aussie wines is that price is not a good indicator of quality (Plus taste is purely subjective). If anyone wants any of my suggestions for a good red wine from Downunder, just PM me.

I have only drunk their reds. Always welcome wine recomendations.

That is a fact! false price hikes so they can show discounts.

Thanks for the recommendation. Just tried 19 Crimes for the first time and it’s bloody good. Sainsbury’s have on a 25% off for six bottles offer. For less than £7.50 it’s a bargain for such quality.
