That’s why they actually call them SUVs here. Sport Utility Vehicle.
There are 2 types…those with truck chassis, like the Toyota 4Runner which I believe shares the Tacoma’s chassis? The Tundra I think was turned into the Land Rover?
Then there are the ones with car chassis. The Toyota Highlander, built using a Camry chassis but jacked up with a higher roof and then made a hatchback.
The first are good for towing and off road driving, the latter are much better if you’re on paved roads all day and pretty poor where the others are strongest.

4 runner, land cruiser and tacoma all share same running gear from the 300 series land cruiser. The sequoia and tundra use same chassis but different drive train
