That Mars mini I linked to above is essentially a thermal camera that is small enough to use on a pistol and has a ballistic reticle with a built in LRF.

I had never heard that. But coincidentally when I was at A Sqn the OC and 2IC’s tanks were named Apricot and Apple.
Tank naming conventions are that all A Sqn tanks begin with A, B Sqn with B, etc. The names of the tanks within a Troop share a theme, e.g 3 Troop, A Sqn tanks were named after demons (Azazel, Abbadon & I can’t remember the third)
In 2 Troop ours were based on Greek mythology:
12 (Troop leader) - Apollo
12A (Troop SGT) - Athena
12B (Troop CPL and the tank I was gunner on) - Atropos.
Atropos was the fate who cut the thread of life.
1 Troop were - Apocalypse, Armageddon and Antichrist
4 Troop - Only one I can remember is Amber-Lynn.
